[D&D 3.5] War of the Burning Sky [OOC] [Closed]

Rhun: I forgot that when Hollister reached the edge of the road he had to make a reflex save or take fire damage. This is different from the previous behavior of the fire forest flames. I rolled the save (failure) and damage and updated my most recent post in the IC thread. I didn't want to post a new post to keep things less confusing. Resist energy should keep Hollister from taking any actual damage, and he couldn't have caught on fire.

With that said, can I change the action so Hollister cast the spell first before he moved? Since his initiatve was the elementals, this wouldn't provoke an AoO.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: I was planning on having PCs only role the reflex saves against the now-aggressive flames from the fire forest on the enemy's turn. I thought that with the posting dynamic it would just be easier if I still did one post each combat round. So since your action would have been before the enemy's turn, your energy resistance would have handled the fire damage. But then I realized that only rolling saves against the flames on the enemy's turn would mean you could walk through dangerous squares and not have to save as long as you didn't end your turn in a dangerous square. So now anyone who walks into one of those squares will have to save immediately. But that means Hollister did NOT originally cast his spell before taking fire damage, so yes we can retcon that Hollister cast his spell before moving.

Apologies for my slowish posting, I've been rather busy. It's likely that will continue until midway through next week.

On squishiness: yeah, I noticed this too. It seems to be an unfortunate feature of the Monk class, until it gets access to its class AC bonus and some Dex- and Wis-enhancing items at higher levels. At the moment Arshen is - not to put too finer point on it - a bit useless when compared even to a Fighter of his own level, let alone any of the Bo9S classes.

We certainly don't have an optimised party, so it does seem possible that the campaign's more challenging encounters will prove too much for us (though I have no idea how challenging or otherwise the encounters are, as written). I hope this isn't a big problem for you, pneumatik. If it is, I for one am certainly open to discussion on how it might be fixed.

Hey pneumatik, now that I am "talking" to Fritz I wonder what kind of accent you should give him? :p

Reaction to current situation.

Austrailian "col blimey mate"
British "lovely time for tea, yes quite lovely"
French(new orleans?) "chew shuildn't be dere mon ami"

Whatever you can think to use and I will add it to my character sheet so as not to forget. ;)

HolyMan: Domain power effects are based on cleric class level. So her speak with animals spell-like will last one minute.

Arkhandus: Liiros' new save is definitely good enough, so Liiros avoids the fire damage.

All: I'm still here. I'm waiting for either Arshen or Hollister to post an action and then I'll try to move things forward. Several people said they'd be posting less around now, so I'm not surprised this is taking a little while.

Sorry for the delay on my part...I was out of town over the holiday, and it took me much longer to get caught back up on RL stuff than I expected. I'll get a post up for Hollister shortly.

I finally managed to update the IC thread. Sorry for the delay. I was travelling and the Internet access was spottier than I expected. Fight's over. Time for plot.

Wait fights over and my character is still alive?!?! Woo-Hoo can't believe we survived that mess LOL.

Ok let me go to the IC and see where my healing is needed.
