Just a heads up. I'm moving. Sometime in the next 24 hours I'll lose Internet access until Verizon shows up to hook me up at my new place. They're scheduled to do that on Friday, but who knows what will really happen. So if I disappear from the Internet for a while, that's why.

joining a grapple

This is in response to this post by HolyMan. My interpretation the grappling rules is that to join a grapple you need to win an opposed grapple check with any one of the participants. As long as one of those participants is willing to let you win that check, you can automatically join the grapple. In the situation in the above-referenced post, Shaylir can automatically join the grapple with Hollister and the rast.

On a somewhat related note, I never found the grapple rules complex. They're another subsystem you need to learn, but it's not a really complex subsystem.

And a good take on that rule it doesn't say who has to let you join in LOL.

You can aid another to get out of a grapple if you want. However, note that for Hollister's first action this fight he's nauseated, which means he can only take a move action. When you're grappled all your possible actions are standard actions, so he can't try to get out of the grapple.

Yep, Hollister is kinda screwed this first round. And really low on hit points after being bitten. So best thing you guys can do is kill the Rast.
