Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

D&D Direct, WotC's new video-format announcement show launches today at 9am PDT (5pm BST). If you aren't able to watch it, I'll be updating this article live. Feel free to comment below! Okay: so basically, this takes place during the War of The Lances. While the Heroes of the Lance were busy doing their thing during the saga, there were other battles taking place. Battles with their "own" heroes and what not fighting against Tarhkis and her forces. And for these heroes, the main ones don't overshadow them because, for all intents and purposes, these battles/adventures/campaigns ONLY matter to their own heroes fighting for their lives. The Shadows of the Dragon Queen is cast over all regardless of their location during the War of the Lance.

I like that. And it even allows players to use some of the older edition adventures of Dragon Lance to fill out things or even have more of these characters (everybody's PCs) viewpoints during their own battles.

Maybe Goodman Games will bring DL to 5E, as they have for other older Modules, that can be used to tie in...

The DL books taking place in the War of Lance is less exciting than, you know, moving on. But then, no tv show or movie can seem to do that, not sure why I expect WotC to be any different.

I hate these stupid Target exclusives. Target come to Canada, was a failure in part due to them not bring the Target exclusive items to Canada. Honestly, just another reminder that Canada is forgotten market to most American business if in some case we are more then 10% of their business.

3 64 page books is a bit light, but for $70 in the current inflationary climate not bad. I'll buy it.

Lol dude that's more than double what 192 pages cost recently, that's not inflation even with amazing PR goggles, that's straight up gouging.

And D&D hardcovers have had a frozen price since 2014: $49.99 in 2014 dollars is $60.71 now, they had to shake up their model at some point. WotC has historically held their prices down for extended periods of time, like with Magic cards, so it seems more shocking than it is when they do a once per decade price adjustment.

I think it is absolutely fair to criticize a $20 price increase, that's a 40% price hike. I get inflation exists, but this is a major jump in price.

If the books totaled 300+ pages or more, I could maybe defend it. But less than the Ravenloft book? Bad taste to me.

It’s a timed exclusive. Icespire Peak was a timed exclusive too.
