Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

D&D Direct, WotC's new video-format announcement show launches today at 9am PDT (5pm BST). If you aren't able to watch it, I'll be updating this article live. Feel free to comment below! I’ve had “it’s just the internet calm down lol” people dox and threaten my loved ones before so you’ll forgive me if that argument holds less than zero water for me these days. But so noted that that wasn’t your intent. I’ll take you at face value there.

And I mean, that’s any and every hobby geek-facing hobby these days. I’m more shocked that you’re acting like it’s a new thing. Again, nobody forces anyone to buy any of this. I don’t buy EVERYTHING Wizards drops for this, even if I do buy a lot of it. I guess I’m not seeing what you’re pushing at here.

Heh - a way to do what crystal spheres did without the actual physical sphere, and Astral sea instead of phlogiston. The two things I disliked the most since I opened up the boxed set back in 1989 are not going to be in this iteration - I guess I wasn't the only one.

And the thing I disliked the third most (the mechanics of spelljammer helms) are if not out at least optional. More chariots flying into the heavens pulled by giant swans please!

We will have to find someway to repay the favor, yes we must.

There's a lot of Astral Sea mentioned in that little monstrous compendium, often alongside Wildspace in the same sentence. Maybe their interpretation is PCs can sail to the edge of Wildspace and enter the Astral Plane?

I can find what I want from 3rd party publishers (looking at you EN Publishing ), which is great. But there is still part of me that is saddened that I feel that I am no longer the core audience for the game I've enjoyed for decades.

Is there a particular reason you didn't answer the question? What do you want?

Also: Will Warlords of Krynn finally be the straw that "allows" PVP in Dungeons and Dragons to be seen in a more positive light? Like, can you take your character, say a Bard for example and have that PC's stats reflected in the Board Game only component of Warlords of Krynn? Will Snarf's Bard Slayer PC be too OP for it? Etc, etc etc.

Still not worth a $20 price Jack.

Not that it makes up for the $20 increase but it includes a DM screen (and maybe a map too). Plus for some it is nice to have separate books. I personally prefer this format, though soft covers would be nice.
