D&D Dungeon Master's Roundtable 2

Last week, WotC held it's second DM Roundtable, which is a live video event where experienced Dungeon Masters answer questions from the public on how to run their games. This episode features Shelly Mazzanoble, Trevor Kidd, Derek Guder, Katy Laurance, Jefferson Dunlap, and Richard Whitters. There are some audio issues in the first 10 minutes of the 90-minute video, but they mainly clear up later, so hang in there!

It's a good listen, albeit treading the usual ground. I feel like they need to get through more questions in the time allotted.

Always interesting to hear DMs talk about their games and ideas. I love the way one of them explained how he asked his group to tell a story about their last adventure together to establish bonds with one another.

these fine folk needed to be reminded to lean into the microphones.

Nah, they need the technology set up better - either place the mics closer, give everyone wireless mics, or something. If the performers have to adjust what they're doing to match the tech, it's the tech that's at fault.

It's neat but I hope it's not coming at the expense of an article this Monday. Feels like it's been a couple weeks since we saw anything. Most of the columns are not off to a good start...

Surely it's a rogue's gallery of DMs. Or a TPK of DMs. Or a random encounter of DMs. (While we're on the subject of collective nouns, one of my favourites is 'an observance of hermits'.) Or a table of DMs, a house rule of DMs, a campaign of DMs, a prestige class of DMs. All right, maybe not. I'll get my coat.
