The movie is also an ongoing marketing tool.
The Rating for HAT are pretty good, that mean that the movie will be eventually watch and like on streaming for years to come.
It is hard to evaluate the effect of the movie on the long term, but new people will come to the game simply because DnD is popular.

Maybe this movie is not the superhit we would like it to be, but this doesn't mean to be a flop. Thanks this movie the value of the brand as multimedia franchise has been increased.

I say it is too soon to proclaim to have been a failure. We should await even after the end of this summer.

The movie is fun, but the ordinary audience didn't know yet it is. It shouldn't be a failure, among other reasons because there are worse movies with a better box-office.

And maybe a lot of parents would rather to await to be realesed in streaming service, because it is easier to censor some scenes if they think these are inapropiate for their children.

Do you remember the first movie of Hercules played by Kevin Sorbo? Hercules and the Amazons. Technically it would be a "flop", but thanks this the "Xenaverse" was possible, and this opened later a door for a spin-off with Xena the warrior princess as main character.

not sure how that makes it not a financial failure. I don’t think anyone disagreed with it having good reviews

Is there a bet that this is riding on or something?

How much money is changing hands if Enworld is convinced this movie was a flop?

That's the only way I can see to this being this important.

Just Sayre's law.

No side-bets needed...

There is more than a little truth to this.

William Goldman was right:

Nobody knows anything... Not one person in the entire motion picture field knows for a certainty what's going to work. Every time out it's a guess and, if you're lucky, an educated one.”

You are mistaken. It is not 48 pages. But it is 2 weeks that actually make statistics based on speculation into statistics based on actual facts...*

Of course it was statistics before, but the margin of error got smaller and smaller.
No, its 5 pages of real discussion that veers into either a personal tyrade between two people or goes so hopelessly off topic that your wondering what thread your in.

In comparison, while we are going in circles on this thread, we are staying remarkably on topic. Its shocking!
