Are you satisfied with your DDI Subscription?

Totally satisfied! For the price of 2 books, I get the equivelent of 12 books, Character builder (wow, best software for tabletopping I've seen so far) and previews of new books.

Its pure goodness.

I voted somewhat, which was a silly, emotional vote. I love the compendium and character builder and encounter builder. I could not DM or play without them. But, I've been very annoyed at the decreasing volume of number of articles and adventures in the magazines. Annoyed, really annoyed. I feel totally bait and switched.

Had the deal only been for the CB, EB and Compendium, I'd be very satisfied. So getting great content should be a bonus. But, I cannot get over the emotional anger (silly I know) over the decrease in the number of articles since they started charging.

Extremely Satisfied. Dungeon, Dragon and Char Builder more then pay for the investment. I have been recently using the Compendium and Encounter builder much more and these are hidden gems. It made pulling together encounters a breeze because they draw from all the sources without having to physically find them. I understand these are free, but I imagine this will switch over at some point as it will be nice to actually create and encounter with the builder and print out all the relevant monsters/stats etc. They can't do that if it is free, I imagine.

Really hoping that the rest of it gets done, but I am not holding my breath. The virtual table is of interest, as I want to try an utilize it in making maps to use in the table top game. I have a vision of using a flat-screen or projector with this in some way, but until they put it out, I can't know for sure.

(snip) My biggest annoyance is how readily it logs you out. (snip)

Yes, this is really annoying.

Overall, and with this specific exception, I think it's a great package that will only get better. For me, the Compendium is the best part. I find that Dungeon has gone markedly downhill since it left the care of the Paizo folks but Dragon is still OK. However, I don't think I would buy either if they were not bundled.

Unstatisfied

I am one of the few votes for "very unsatisfied" above. I recently canceled my subscription actually.

One of my biggest complaints follows what most other people have pointed out; the horrible login system. Logging me out every 20 minutes is extremely annoying, most especially when I am in the Compendium and have to go back to a different window to log back in.

But more than just the annoyance, the login system exemplified the hard to use/poorly designed nature of the entire D&D website. Why, as a paying customer, do I get shunted back to regular D&D website when I log in? Why do I not have a portal that points me to my special DDI content? Why does the compendium insist on opening in a new page? Even if I am just browsing as a non-DDI person, why is it hard to find the area where the content I am interested in is located? (Good luck finding the errata without using the link in the Q&A (also good luck in finding the teeny tiny link to the Q&A archive once that question moves on))

The D&D website seems dated in its design philosophy and something that was slapped together. Hell, even this forum has a "Remember Me" option.

I was underwhelmed by Dungeon, although I did enjoy Dragon (even the preview articles).

I was also pretty impressed with the Character Builder, but the lack of easy to implement house rules made it useless in the game I currently play in.

If I was DM'ing, I probably would've stuck with DDI, but I just reached my breaking point with the website. If they redesign it/implement all the things they promised I may look at it again. But for right now, it's not worth it for me.

Interesting. 146 votes (I ignored those who dont have a subscribtion, as they arent interesting) already. Considering the numbers of usual voters for polls here on ENworld, that's quite decent. It certainly doesn't fit with huge disaster that some people have claimed the DDI to be.

Either way, it seems as around 84% of the users are very satisfied or better. If you add the somewhat satisfied, you are up to 93%. That's pretty good.

It certainly looks like the majority of those who subscribe are quite happy with it.

The follow-up, of course, is will people still be as satisfied should the price rise to $9.99/month, as was originally announced? (Though I presume it will not rise that high until the whole thing - including the game table - is done.)

If the answer is "yes", then Wizards may have a real winner on their hands.

Why does the compendium insist on opening in a new page?

I agree with you on a few other things you mentioned, but not this one. I'm personally, as a DM glad it opens in a new window.

Usually when I use the compendium it's when I'm putting together the adventure for my group. I have the encounter builder open, and the compendium open. I can easily bounce back and forth without much hassle.

I voted "A bit Unsatisfied" and my reasons are pretty much summed up in the thread I started here:

advice to anyone still wondering if they should purchase a DDI subscription today

The short version is that I don't really care about "preview" information and the character builder is somewhat disappointing (I really hate paying to beta test a product). Everything else is nice, but not worth $60/year - at least, not yet. But I still have hope that my $$$ won't have been wasted... eventually.
