I must state my belief that there are trolls in this poll. And the d20 is the greatest dice ever made, for it is the foundation of the greatest game ever made. One thing I feel was overlooked is that it's the only physical perfect dice that increments it's probabilities in whole integers--surely that is a telling sign of the perfection of this die.

Plus, if you play Villains & Vigilantes the only dice USED are the d20 & d6. That says something, as well.

Anyway, this cracked me up this morning, thank you.

I'm sad the d30 isn't in the list.

I voted d20 and d8. I love both of those so freakin' much. d8s are maybe the most perfect dice ever. d20 is great too, and I love my d20s, but my d30 is very special. I have whole random charts tied to 1-30 rolls.

I love my d60 as well. So great for tracking time and deciding on random minutes. Alongside my d24, I always know what time it is in the campaign, or exactly when something went bump in the night.

And that "Salable Magic Items" table? Where it says "days to find a buyer?" I up each of those days. instead of 1d4 for Common, I use 1d5. Instead of 1d6 for Uncommon, it could take up to a full week, or 1d7. For rare items, I use 1d10. And for Very Rare, I use 1d14, or a fortnight. There are other cases where it might take time to find something. Depending on how difficult it is to find something, but the players are willing to spend the time, I use those same scales – up to a full working week, up to a full week, up to ten days, and up to two weeks. Rolling two dice for such things would be inelegant – you'd never find something in just one day! No, gotta use those non-standard dice!

Also, I have decided to declare undying enmity for the d10 for failing to be a Platonic solid. Which is, admittedly, a terrible reason.

I have to admit I am a little surprised by the love for the d8. It's like the unholy joining of two d4s.

Um... if you join two d4s the resulting shape has six sides, not eight.

actualy a D8 is not a joining of 2d4 try it, but the D20 can actualy be made from a joining of 20D4.

My choice was the D12.
This might be due to my liking of hex maps and using D12s to generate random parts for the maps
