Do you miss email notifications?

I'm not sure how many of my fellow PbP players look around the rest of the forum but as you've all realized the notification to replies very email has been turned off for awhile in an effort to speed up ENworld.

Actually, more than just email replies where turned off as you can no longer look up emails in profiles, nor can you report a post via the “!” button.

There is some good news, and a silver lining, to this all. I’m not sure if many of you remember when a “few” months ago when ENworld was about to be shutdown cause the bills where simply to much, anyhow funds where raised, the bills where paid, and there was enough money left over to run the site for a year, or so, and there was also enough money to buy a new sever and replace the one we have now.

So what does this mean? Email nonfictions should return in the near future but I’m curious to the number of PbP players that used, liked, or needed them to function...

So how many want to see this return?

I liked 'em!

I remember back when I first joined, we only got emails noting that there was a post... I really liked them when they came with the entire post. That was neat.

But now we don't get them at all, and that's upsetting.

Though, I will admit... if they slow down the servers, I don't want them. The boards are slow enough as-is... we don't need the extra load putting those things out would generate.

The new server should not have this issue... and that's what I'm curious about.

If people want them I'll try and get them truned on as soon as the new server is up.

I liked them, they reminded me that I hadn't yet today checked up En World, but since I come here every day (and have My Subscriptions as the page in my favorites), I don't really need them. And my mail box is already filled with stuff I don't really need anyway

I only just started PbP gaming here, but I tried to turn email notification on for Heroes of Vesper Peaks, which I'm playing in. It would be very handy not to be compulsively checking the forum several times a day looking for new posts.

I always turn those features off, so... no, not at all!

That's not compulsive...

I’m compulsive, try several times an "hour." I use hour loosely cause in all honestly if I could I probably checking several a minute... :\

Eh. I missed email notifications when they first were turned off - but now I am so used to opening up my Subscriptions page and just leaving it open all day (hitting "Refresh" on my browser every now and then to see what has been updated) that I don't miss them at all anymore.

Yes, they are a must while at work, or I spend time I should be working, checking my subscribed threads. If they are enabled, I check E-mail and then know if I need to , take a break anc check, check at lunch time, check before and after work, and not feel guilty.

Well, I never used the e-mail notifications because I check the site nearly every day, but I do miss the ability to look up people's e-mail addresses. That's kinda important in PbP gaming and I would really like to have it back.
