Just so you know, I never was a big fan of the Fifth Doctor. He was a little too bland and wishy washy for my taste, and was never much of a doer like his other incarnations. Still, after hearing this news, just one thought popped in my head:

AWESOME. :)

Yep, I heard about that. If it's like last time, it'll only be 5 mins long at most, but it's pretty cool.

Peter Davison's aged a bit... Dunno how they'll explain that, since he regenerated into the 6th Doctor when he was still young. Maybe they'll just gloss over it.

Your links are broken, BTW.

I know tastes differ, but I really liked Peter Davidson as the doctor because his incarnation was 'a guy who knew the answers' again... in contrast to 4th doctor who was continually being upstaged and out-thought by Romana and/or robotic dogs.

Unfortunately he came at the time the BBC decided to shift Dr Who from its saturday night slot to all over the shop during the week :(

I'm not saying Davidson was terrible during his term as the Doctor. In fact I thought he played the part rather well. But still, I don't like the Fifth Doctor all that much for a number of reasons. My main beef being that he seemed to be a background character more than anything, and not a main character at the forefront of a story. For the most part he seemed helpless in controlling events around him and oftentimes being swept up in them, whereas the Doctor I know would assert his authority and take charge whenever the proverbial s**t hits the fan. Oh sure there were some instances were the Fifth Doctor would perform some heroic act and daring deed to please us (such as his rescue of Peri in The Caves of Androzani), but they felt few and far between.

I notice The Sun, in a typical display of astounding editorial accuracy, manages to spell his name as Davidson and Davison, both on the same page.

Page header in top of IE says Davidson, as does the photo caption. Actual story text says Davison.

Dear Sun: it's DAVISON. Yours sincerely, blah blah.

It is billed as a "scene", after all.

I think this is a wonderful way to leverage a good name for a good cause. I wish more TV shows did such things. More power to 'em!

Should be really neat. I would like to see a full multi-Doctor episode again. The 8th through 10th Doctors would work just fine, and Davidson is still young enough to pull off the 5th Doctor. Yes he is noticeably older then when he played the role, but he isn't as elderly and different looking as Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.

Edit: Actually, I haven't seen Sylvester McCoy for a while. He might be able to pull off the role still.

I recall hearing rumors about this some time ago, and thought it was great. I'd still love to see a longer reunion though- they were among my favorite shows back when. As Rykion points out, both Christopher Eccleston and Paul McGann would be suitable, and Sylvester McCoy as well. I'm looking forward to this.
