Dodge

How would you rule Dodge?

I, like a lot of other people House Ruled it to give a +1 dodge bonus against all.

works fine, makes it a valuable feat (rather than a stepping stone), but most importantly - it makes combat easier and faster for the player. No confusion and hving the guy to assigned your dodge bonus to dying on you.

simple and effective.

sidekick the lazy DM...

I'll throw my lot into the "houseruled it to give a flat +1AC bonus" camp. In my group we always forget to apply it with that silly "designate one opponent" nonsense. Having it give a straight +1 makes it a viable feat for everyone in the game, and we have not found it overpowered at all.

It's interesting that the "houseruled" camp is the most vocal on here by far, but 'Intent' is just as large a group, and 'RAW' is still biggest. And no one has said they play it as RAW rather than intent.

It's possible that a lot of those people merely responded to your question rather than giving you a possibly useless response of "I houserule it." I had almost selected a different option than Other despite the houserule I have because I was thinking that would be more useful to you.

How so, when Speak is an action, and an AoO is not?

-Hyp.

My mistake. I was thinking AoO was an action.

Upon review, it seems the follwing is true:

1. You can change the opponent for Dodge upon ANY action. Note that this is NOT restricted to your own actions, which is also interesting.

2. Actions are: Standard Action, Move Action, Full-round Action, Free Action (only taken during another action), Swift Action, and Immediate Action.

So, technically, you could change opponents for dodge once per any action of anyone. I would, personally, not include Free Actions, Swift Actions or Immediate Actions since they only occur when another action is happening - in the case of immediate actions, that action is someone else's but still....

That's pretty close to a blanket +1. About the only time it is not, I think, would be when you provoke mutiple AoOs during one action.

When I voted, I voted for Intent. That was how we played it before we houseruled the feat.

Our houserule is the same as everyone's above: flat +1 bonus to AC.

I'm not sure it's possible to distinguish between 'Intent' and 'RAW' without reading the original post...
