Boral picks up a stone and casts Force Manipulation on it as he aims at the second undead, which is in better shape than the first.

Meanwhile, Kurl attempts to heal Gratien (not sure the penalty when he has disapproval).
[roll1]

Gratien stumbled backward, away from the ghouls. He clutched at his stomach and grimaced when his hand came away red with blood. "They'll be unable to do much for a few precious moments. Strike now, friends!"[sblock=OOC]Gratien will disengage and put some distance between himself and the ghouls.[/ooc]

Alois struck at the ghoul he hadn't hit with his last lunging attack. Lizt separated from Alois's side, and moved to slice at the ghould that Alois threw against the wall. Sweat dribbled down her temples.

Lizt [roll3] with short sword; [roll4]

OOC: GE, if any bonuses apply to attack blinded and prone ghouls, I leave it to you to apply them. I skimmed through the basic rules and the spell section but didn't see anything particularly relevant that I felt confident about adding into my rolls myself.

It is a close thing, the monstrous snakes are beginning to writhe near the end of Gratien's spell, but the group manages to hack them all to pieces before they become fully conscious and able to attack again.

Kurl is able to heal Gratien some of the damage he took.

Now that the threat of the ghouls has passed the group can more thoroughly look around the room: the runes on the walls are carved in the likeness of massive bears or warriors donning the skulls and pelts of bears. These bears and bear-warriors are shown triumphantly battling dozens of foes.

The slab of stone that makes up the altar surface shifted slightly when the ghoul dropped down from where it clung to the ceiling. It looks like there might be a space below and shifting the slab reveals the well-preserved hide of an enormous cave bear. The hide is fashioned into a cloak and attached to a bear skull that would serve as helm when the whole thing is worn.

[sblock=OOC]DT, Kurl doesn't have disapproval; his spell failure made the chance for disapproval more likely. Disapproval occurs on a spell check of 1 and increases by 1 for each spell failure. Kurl's is currently at 1-2. This will reset the next day.

Don't forget, Kurl also has +2 to all spell checks (including lay on hands attempts) from the torc he wears. This makes his check a 13, just enough to heal Gratien 1d6. Healing, for the rest of you, heals a number of dice (based on the lay on hands chart) of your hit die type (a d6 for elves, for example) and no more than your total hit dice even if the cleric should roll exceptionally well (no more than 1 die at level one).

Healing for Gratien [roll0]

Homer 1/8 hp
Hank 2/5 hp
Gratien 2/6 hp
Franko (Lost: Magic Missile)
Boral (Lost: Enlarge)
Kurl (Disapproval: nat 1-2)
Tender 9/13 hp
[/sblock]

Gratien nodded his thanks at Kurl. "I hadn't realized you were learned in the healing arts. Are you a priest?" The Elf stretched his limbs and stomach, testing Kurl's healing. Everything held, though his stomach felt queer where the ghoul had slashed at him. The skin was new and pink where Kurl had used magic to heal him.

Lizt peered into the altar. "Hey, there's some weird bear cape and a helmet that looks like a skull in here." She picked up the skull helmet and held it out to Boral. "Wanna try it on?"

Alois scanned the perimeter of the room for other entrances. This place made him nervous. The dead were better left alone.

[sblock=OOC]I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It's a spell and you cast it just like any other spell if it is on your list of spells known except that wizards find it difficult and suffer a -2 on the spell check. After the spell check you consult the chart and determine the result. I realize that since it is primarily a cleric spell you probably don't have it in the spell information I sent you, Scott, so I would have to tell you the results.[/sblock]

Hank looks at the cloak and helmet. "May I inspect those?"

ooc: I didn't see the spell on the list, further more he does not have that as a known spell.
Would he be able to just try and cast it any way?
