Dungeoncraft article: Shifters in MM, deities mentioned

Let's list all the confirmed facts that this article gives us about 4E.

> Only 7 races in the PHB; human, elf, dwarf, halfling, half-elf, tiefling, and eladrin.
> Shifters in the MM
> Eladrin are tied to the feywild
> The feywild and the core world have "thin areas" where travel between the two is easier
> Tieflings are an entire race to themselves not just demon blooded decendents of trists with outsiders
> Bahumat, Pelor, Moradin and Kord are dieties in the PHB

anything else?

That's a really cool starting point for a campaign. Very evocative and shows how little work you have to do with this Points of Light idea.

Especially if you steal half your names. :)

Bloody stupid wizards website. Changed the login process, don't appear to have bothered migrating accounts and I CAN'T REGISTER AGAIN BECAUSE THE WEBSITE IS CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE. AGAIN.

Please excuse my shouting, but I've never come across any other website, in the whole world, which spends so much time shut for business as the wizards forums.

Gah.

As I'd posted in a couple of other threads, there's an easy work around. Click the Forgot Password link, put in your email address. This will make you a new password, then you can go willy nilly with the logging in.

edit: Oh, you already got in. My bad. Still, the advice holds for anyone else with a problem.

Localism, and building out from a small point, have long been part of D&D, but its not the only way to do things. There can certainly be advantages to having a more developed world up front, whether it is painted in broad strokes, or detailed out ala the Wilderlands.

Yeah, I was wondering how much information to give the players as he was describing things. The part about Dwarven caravans traveling to the nearest big city made me think they should know about the cities that connect to that big city as well. I think it would be best to plan out two points from the village instead of just the one.

Very good article. I liked it a lot. I got there from Hordelings, where they are debating whether or not all halfling farmer minis should have pigs in their arms or not.

I think this is the kind of article that the DMG and the new basic set should link to.

The only scary part for me was Bahamut's holy symbol. It looked like something that dennis crabapple (or whatever his name is) would do. If his art is in 4E, at all, I may not buy any products.

I must be blind, but where are people getting the hints that Tieflings had an Empire and are a "race"?
Probably from that part of the article where it said that there was an ancient tiefling empire. ??

I'm not sure what you're asking. It's not a hint; it's stated outright. In the very first sentence of the article, no less.
Imagine a world shrouded in darkness -- vast stretches of wilderness untouched by the civilizing hands of humans and dwarves, dotted with crumbling ruins left by the ancient empire of the tieflings or the last great elf kingdom.
