Dungeoncraft article: Shifters in MM, deities mentioned

The only scary part for me was Bahamut's holy symbol. It looked like something that dennis crabapple (or whatever his name is) would do. If his art is in 4E, at all, I may not buy any products.
Both images are 3e art. The symbol is Pelor's.

I don't see anything new in the pic detailing the differences between humans, half-elves, and elves. Both 3e PHBs have a similar picture (page 16 for 3.5 PHB).

It's the new Amorous Commoner mini!

I'll assume he lost his fifth finger in the war.

I've got two gnomes in my Midwood campaign, and play a gnome in a Ptolus game. They outnumber the tieflings 3-0 as a result. (And half-elves, half-orcs and halflings, too, for that matter.)
I was being tongue-in-cheek. I shoulda used a damn smilie, I just knew I was gonna get hit in the knee-caps by some disguntled wee folk. (and this is as close to an apology you'll receive from a half-orc, who may not see the light of day in the PHB either ;) )

There's also a nice piece of art that pretty much says that elves are going to look more pretty and less oh-god-what-is-that-thing; no more Mialee! *Crosses fingers*
That is very nice piece of art, I agree.

My problem (well, more of a mild, occasional annoyance) with Mialee wasn't that she was not that attractive; it was that everyone kept drawing her in a different way, and nearly always badly.

Let's list all the confirmed facts that this article gives us about 4E.

> Only 7 races in the PHB; human, elf, dwarf, halfling, half-elf, tiefling, and eladrin.
> Shifters in the MM
> Eladrin are tied to the feywild
> The feywild and the core world have "thin areas" where travel between the two is easier
> Tieflings are an entire race to themselves not just demon blooded decendents of trists with outsiders
> Bahumat, Pelor, Moradin and Kord are dieties in the PHB

anything else?

I'm not so sure we are as confirmed as you think.

1) The article certainly implies only seven PHB races, but I'm not convinced we are at the confirmation stage yet.

2) The article does not confirm (at least upon my reading) that tieflings are a "true" race rather than humans with demonic/diabolic extra spice. The article mentions the "ancient empire of the tieflings", but is that a 4e hint or simply Wyatt's own invention for his campaign? I'm assuming the latter.

3) Bahamut is confirmed as a PHB deity, but some posters are concerned of the lack of the "Good" and "Draconic" portfolios . . . they weren't mentioned in the article, but we already know that alignment is treated differently in 4e, so maybe that's why no mention of "Good". And perhaps Bahamut is taking some notes from Paladine and is now a widely revered deity, although still the "King of Good Dragons". Or they simply aren't mentioned but might show up in the final book anyway . . .

I think we have to be careful when given 4e hints and not jump to early conclusions and "confirmations"!

Yeah, I think the "concept" of Mialee is fine, but most of her depictions were terrible. How hard is it to draw a hot female elf? Apparently a lot harder than I thought . . .
