D&D 4E Dungeons of Dread Preview 1 - 4e stuff!

Can someone blow those cards up? I can't see them.

I seem to recall that the Chillborn zombies had an aura attack that caused people to go slow or be unable to move as they moved into the area.

There slam has a follow-up attack that immoblizes the victim.

Here's what the cards say for those of us with bad eyesight:
Ascendant Hellsword 96 points
Level 11 AC 22 DEF 25 Speed F8 HP 105
Attack Actions:
Two-Handed Sword (melee) +14 vs AC: 20 fire OR 20 cold Damage
Infernal Slash: Attack each adjacent enemy once, +12 vs AC, place target up to 3 squares away in line of sight, then deal 20 fire OR 20 cold damage
Abilities: Evil Devil Cambion Flight Resist 10 Fire
Special Powers: Soul Shroud: +4 AC and +4 DEF (Ref) against ranged attacks
Champion 3
+10 VP for destroying an enemy in any victory area
Use when you win initiative: Activate 1 extra creature during your first turn of the round

I'll post the next two as I finish them

It looks like wings for starters...me thinks that the cambion is the new half-fiend.

The half-fiend part makes sense, as that's what a cambion is. I have a vague suspicion that wings are unique to the Ascendant Hellsword though, since there's no better way to 'ascend' than to fly.

Also, can we merge this thread into the other? I feel a bit silly posting in the redundant thread.

Victory area? Champion 3? I also note that none of those are standard actions or encounter powers or what.

WHere's the Fort and Will defs? Or are they blanket defenses?

*scratch head* Is any of that stuff specific to DDM, not 4e?

Fen Hydra 93 points
Level 12 AC 24 DEF 20 Speed 3 HP 115
Attack Actions:
Bite (melee) +16 vs AC: 20 Damage
Abilities: Beast Hydra +4 DEF (Fort) Ponderous: Can't shift Reach 3
Special Powers:
Multi Activation 2: Activates twice per round
New Heads: Once Bloodied, this creature makes 2 melee attacks as an attack action on its turn.

Neither dragon nor serpent, the hydra is far more fearsome than a combination of both.

Victory areas and Champion values are unique to DDM. You add your Champion value to initiative, and it's the number of times you can use your champion powers (they each take a number of uses equal to the number of dots next to the power description)

WHere's the Fort and Will defs? Or are they blanket defenses?

The "DEF" value is the base value for all of the saves, unless adjusted by something else.

Hydras are going to be downsized from huge to large? Sigh. Like the heads however!

The hellsword (which will work as a demonbrood in my wilderlands campaign) has a double bladed sword. sigh...

Chillborn 18 points
Level 6 AC 18 DEF 16 Speed 4 HP 45
Attack Actions:
Slam (melee) +13 vs AC: 15+5 cold Damage AND Followup
Followup: +10 vs DEF (Fort) Immobilized (Speed 0)
Abilities: Evil Undead Cold Immune Poison Vulnerable 5 Radiant
Special Powers:
Ice Reaper: +5 cold Damage against Immobilized enemies, additional +5 cold if another Cold creature is within 5 squares of the creature.

Chillborn are the cold of the grave, given just enough motivation to hunt and to kill.

So I guess we just learned that "Radiant" is another type of damage, or did we know that already?

There's probably hydras at both sizes. After all this is only a 4-headed hydra, smaller than any that were in 3rd edition.

That said, I would have to bet that the shift to having large hydras is at least partly motivated by the miniatures game. I may be misremembering, but didn't one of the designers comment that they would have just made all the giants huge in 4th edition, except that then there would be less giants for the minatures line?

Light damage? Is their turning in DDM? Is it turning damage?
