D&D 4E Dungeons of Dread Preview 1 - 4e stuff!

did you also notice that the sword does fire or cold damage, but not normal/slashing damage? What's up with that? Reminds me of the Pit Fiend and his mace, but this is DDM, so creatures immune to fire and cold are completely immune to the hellsword's sword...
How many creatures are immune to fire and cold, though? It sounds like close to exclusive immunities.

What I find strange is that the AC of the Hellsword is lower than its defense. All Cards that I have seen had the Ac 2-4 point higher then def. I wonder if this is an error...

yes, that's true in DDM. And it will work pretty well there too. I suppose the normal damage was omited to speed gameplay and better writing the statcard (and it's bound to be more tacticaly interesting), but it just reminded me of the speculation from the Pit Fiend article, who wields a mace that does fire damage in plain 4E. Does it also do normal/blunt damage? Like the cambion' sword, his mace seems physical, not fiery...

I've always liked serpentine hydras since the first time I came across them in "Jason and the Argonauts"
Beat me to the post there, Plane Sailing. I'm really digging the more serpentine look and the sprouting of extra heads is neat. Boo for only Large size though ... here's to a Huge version down the track.

Oh, and that must be the ickiest shade of "baby-cack" green I've seen in a long time. ;)

Still, I'm looking forward to converting this one to 3.5.

Not too taken with the other two minis in the preview, though. But ... now that I've said that ... the chillborn would make neat Drowned Ones for when my players pick up where they left off in Tammeraut's Fate.

An extra note on radiant energy, in W&M it is noted that it can be found free-flowing in the underdark.

That might be 'descriptive' radiant energy, rather than 'Game Mechanic' radiant energy.

Well, I guess that answers one of the common complaints about tieflings: They can't be renamed "cambions" since THE NAME IS ALREADY TAKEN!

I fully expect an eladrin/sidhe similar split.

On topic: I'm not keen on the new hydra look, but the others seem fine...

Imagine a stream of pure lucent energy, like sunlight given substance, cascading in inverse waterfalls from the depths of an immense underdark cavern, the crystals around it glimmering in a thousand colors. It is probably the last thing you will see, with tears in your eyes as the brilliance burns them away.
Gnarly!
