Elven Bladesingers

It does seem to violate the class idea, which is that of someone who fights with a weapon in one hand and none in the other. The stipulation that a thrown weapon may be included in your second hand is not a part of the PrC, and I don't think most DMs would be inclined to allow it.

It goes against the spirit of the rules, just like doing it in combination with, say, a Glove of Storing.

The problem is that combat is really simultaneous, and it made artificially sequential for ease of play. That opens possible rules abuse like this.

You could always rule that holding another weapon in the second hand (even if only for a moment) disables the AC bonus for a full round.

I just got a chance to look over the 3.5 version, which didn't look too bad, though the heavy hit on spell casting was rough. I'd probably knock the HD down by 1, lower the BAB progression to medium, and then add spellcasting to most of the other levels (Maybe all but 1st and maybe 6th.) Otherwise, you're better off being a Elderich Knight.

The d8 is a big help, as is the full BAB. Bladesingers are supposed to be mainly fighters with spellcasting as a bonus. If you want the fighter/wizard combo, there are other classes out there.

I don't know whether the spellcasting is worse than before, since now you get the whole lot of arcane spells from before, usually wizard.
