D&D 5E Escape the Underdark, Fear the Madness, and get Out of the Abyss - IC

"When we get inside, you three go left, and you three go right around the spider, we have to surround it to minimize the number of people it can attack with webbing if it can do that. Atilla and Kildrak should attack as soon as possible. Last one in the building should close the door behind us to minimize the noise heard outside the building. If the spider resists our entry, we must all push to force it back as the other spider back there is coming from behind us."

OOC: Really don't care who "you three" 1 and "you three" 2 refers to. Thia is staying in the middle of the pack to help with closing the door and support which is her usual job according to her spy history.

The group quickly and quietly walks up the rope ladder to the door of the shrine. Fortunately the lock is the same design as that of the slave pen and the keys you already have works to let you inside.

Rushing through the door and fanning out the large group almost functions like a well trained unit (Thia thanks whatever higher power is watching over them.), but since the room is empty it is almost like running a drill and not really a life or death situation.

The room is dark, but the small lantern and Finnan's light cantrip allow those who need it enough light to see. The floor of this circular chamber is covered by dark silken mats with a pale web strand pattern woven through them in silvery thread. In the middle of the chamber (at the center of the web) stands a broad pedestal carved from zurkhwood, with a 10-foot-high sculpted spider at its head. The carving is so lifelike that initially Derendil thinks it is the real one and lashes out at it with a clawed hand, but finds only stone. He knocks over one of the silver candlesticks (there are two) holding a black candle next to the altar.

The back half of the chamber. behind the altar. is piled with a semicircle of pillows and cushions. Everyone saw a giant "real" spider in this area before, but it is missing at the moment. A rope ladder is suspended along the wall and leads down a small hole in the floor to the High Priestess chambers below.

OOC: Roll a 6 so the shrine is empty, Does anyone wish to press their lucky and go down the hole?? lol
If so please make a Stealth check
anyone home roll, [roll0]

Thia puts a finger to her lips. Then she points at the hole with a downward motion and waits for those in front to start their way down.

OOC: Stealth [roll0]

Finnan,

Finnan watched the group fanning out to attack the priests chamber, attack the head it is then he thought. As half the group headed down farther into the shrine, Finnan looked at the ones who didn't, they seamed to be looking to him for advice. He didn't have time to think this through as much as he'd like, especially with the spider coming up behind.

"Ront, Buipido wait here and guard the rear. Stool... unless the little mushroom had some stronger mind control spores he wasn't going to be much use in a fight, "...wait over there." he indicated, not sure if Stool could see. "Eldeth, go join Kildrak, he might find your family ax down there. Derendel, I think we might need help deeper in the shrine."

He made his way to the hole, in time to see the others heading even deeper into the shrine. "Great, they're heading farther in." he said to the others. I'll listen mentally for how you are doing. Don't worry, I can only hear what you tell me. Finnan says to Bupido, adding an explanation to allay any fears the Derro had of Finnan knowing his secrets.

As the last of the others headed down the rope ladder Finnan follows, trying his best to cover both front and rear with the range of his eldritch power.

The rope ladder leads to the inter sanctum of the drow priestess Ilvara. The walls are currently hung with a black mesh resembling a spider's web, extending from a central spot on the ceiling out to the walls, then draped down like curtains. Thick, woven mats cover the floor, while a low platform is covered with cushions and pillows to make a broad divan-liked bed.

One side of the chamber contains a small table and two chairs while the other holds a number of shelves and a black-stained heavy chest on the floor beneath them.

Peering through the gossamer like curtains surrounding the cushioned divan you see the nude back and shoulders of Ilvara, her silver-white haired ponytail swaying down her back as she moves her hips in a practiced rhythm.

Kildrak and Thia make their way quietly into the room, and then suddenly the sound of one of the rope rings snapping free from the wall echoes throughout the chamber. Causing them to leap into action.

OOC: Thia and Kildrak get a surprise round, first.
Atallia is on the rope ladder +5' to any movement on map as she gets down, Finnan just watched as the hook snapped out of the wall (+10' to any movement on the map as he is on the other level). Still one hook holding the rope ladder up.

The ladder does go all the way down to the lowest level, there is another hole in the floor to this area. So on the map there is a hole above the one already listed there.

OOC: Sorry marching order was "up in the air" if she waited for the other two than she could be on the ladder just add +5 movement to whatever you wish to do. And Atallia can be in the room to start.
