Solved my own problem...nothing to see here, folks. Move along, move along...

My group will be introducing a new player and character this Friday, in addition to the debut of an existing character with their Essentials rebuild.
During our pre-session email banter, the new player and the Essentials Fighter player (eFighter) realized the potential for some fun synergy between their characters. The new character will be playing a Swordmage (for reference sake).
Here's the potential situation, as they've detailed it:
Is this line of thinking correct? If so, it would seem that Wizard's claim that eClasses and PHB-classes can play nicely together was a gross understatement. The combination of the eFighter and the Swordmage makes it very unlikely that I would ever ignore marks for sake of attacking a nearby "squishier" target - it's one thing to get whacked by one PC, it's quite another to get pummeled by two of them.

During our pre-session email banter, the new player and the Essentials Fighter player (eFighter) realized the potential for some fun synergy between their characters. The new character will be playing a Swordmage (for reference sake).
Here's the potential situation, as they've detailed it:
- eFighter enters the melee, using their aura to "mark" all Adjacent Enemies (I know the eFighter doesn't *really* mark, but the result of the aura is effective the same)
- Swordmage joins the melee, Marking one of the Adjacent Enemy #2 to eFighter
- Assassin or Cleric joins the melee, getting within melee attack range of Adjacent Enemy #2
- Adjacent Enemy #2 decides to pound on Assassin or Cleric
- Because eFighter never "marked" Adjacent Enemy #2, he and Swordmage get to wail on Adjacent Enemy #2
