Mina took one last, lingering look at the portal set into the wall of the tavern, then followed the other 'investigators' out the front door...

Once again, the tavern door swings open.
Entering with a face held in a grim setting is an average person of size and weight, yet appearing somewhat imposing for the average height and weight.
The arms-while not bulky-are sinewy and thick, as if they have had a lot of use lately.
If one were to describe the impression of the male's form in a single word, that word would be most definitely: Enduring.
Yet for all the strength-and the size of the broadsword strapped to his back-there seems to be a grace...a fluidity...that belies his presence as he ends up at the bar.
His eyes glare at the sign's "request" and he makes a noise somewhat between a growl and a sigh--as dark as the black leathers and black equipment on his person. He doffs his cloak's hood and the pale face with several curved and intricate black and blue inked tattoos claarly show (to those learned of such things uncommon,) a Shadar-Kai has arrived.
When he speaks, it is clear his accented common (Allarian) has influence of Eldarian, but the tone and stress of his speaking indicate (even to those who do not know his race) he hails from somewhere...else...than the Arcadium. There is no question his worlds carry a...chill, to them.
"Mead, double...please."He adds the polite request almost as an afterthought.
"And it will be a cold day in Hades before I tell any strangers my True name, but you may call me Zaemar.
I'm looking for...work, or whatever you want to call it. "
The drink arrives and he picks it up, with an almost imperceptible nod; the proper amount of coin just appears on the bar before breath was drawn to even mention the amount.
Zaemar waits for the next word or move from another; he is done with the introductions as his eyes sweep the bar looking at any others the way one eyes a chessboard anticipating the next move....

A dwarf enters the tavern and looks around a moment. He see several of his friends at a table, and wanders over. On the way, he flags down a waitress, Bring me an ale--I'll be at that table over there, he points at the table with Toeto and 'Harold' and Yishim. In fact, start me up a tab, Fredrock is the name.

Zaemar nods and takes a seat at the stool. He allows a slight wisp of a smile as soon as the dwarf Fredrock comes stumbling in, unintentionally naming himself what Cyrus just said. Sipping his mead and returning to a more neutral look, he replies (with an inside voice) to Cyrus,
"I couldn't have set that moment up better myself, but then again, I don't see many graceful dwarves.
I can guess from the few people here a job just went out. How long do you have to wait for the next one usually?"

"Although I confess I am somewhat bewildered by the choice of venue; I believe I overheard some persnickety little city official recruit a gaggle of ill-assorted strangers to search for some missing militia. Is that a regular occurrence? It does little for the atmosphere."

It is late at night as the tavern door opens and in steps a tall human dressed in crimson and black robes. He quickly glances around the tavern before walking up to the bar and ordering a drink. My name is Ardens, the man says to the barkeep. Thanks for the drink, he says before settling down at a table in the corner.
Ardens looks around the tavern, sizing up its occupants. Although he is anxious for information and does not want to waste any time, he realizes that he has had a long journey from the Kingdom of Jade and must take some time to relax. So there he sits, quietly in a corner of the bar, waiting to see what might happen this evening.

The door barely swings close before a giant arm reaches from behind it and quickly flings it open.
In steps a black cloaked figure covered in black fur easily head and shoulders above any normal man. On his back he carries a large ornate bow made from what appears fine, foreign wood (at least to these parts). The bow itself almost dwarfs the figure as it stands easily a small man's size.
Removing his hood, it is quickly revealed that the figure is in fact a bug bear. Damien breathes heavy and assesses the room, like a predator assessing his prey. He spots his target with intent and mutters in a low guttural tone "Ardens"
Without acknowledging anything else he lumbers over to Ardens side and takes up place next to him, almost like a watchful hound guarding his master.

Zaemar knows that look. Just a moment ago he had such a look to the patrons. Giving a civil but curt nod to Arden and Damien, Zaemar returns to his ale, awaiting the eventual "request" for help.
