Ever think back to when you were dating and laugh at the stupid things you said?

My wife and I will be celebrating our 9 year anniversary this April. This morning, while driving our son to daycare, we started discussing how we've grown comfortable with each other and blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, I brought up some of the really stupid things I used to say when we were dating. Things like "I would kill lions for you." (don't ask)

Things that were really profound at the time (10 years ago) but now seem silly and fun to laugh at. Anyone else remember things like that? Ever wonder how the heck you ever attracted a mate in the first place??

I've only been married for just under 3 years... but yeah, I wonder about this every stinkin' day of my life. :)

Heh, I was actually thinking aobut this tht other day... Man, I'm so glad I'm not in high-school college anymore. And I just can't believe all the dumb little things I did that were so 'smart' and 'smooth' at the time.

Oh man, I was thinking about that just yesterday. Once for valentines day I actually made a candle for a girl. Yeah that's right a friggin candle...It sucked too. LOL

Recalling the stupid things I've done in pursuit of a relationship, I don't usually need to remember back further than a few days; recalling the past week provides ample food for thought. But yes, indeed, I identify. Sometimes when I feel discouraged that I lack the skills/attributes necessary to get into another relationship, I recall how much more ridiculous and uncharismatic I was when my last girlfriend mysteriously fell in love with me. And it is indeed heartwarming and encouraging.

Oh, man, I don't even want to think about it ....

Ok, here's one for you... I had dated this girl a couple of times, and wanted to go out with her again. I knew she was going to call me in my dorm room at a certain time, so I was waiting by the phone for her call. I was imagining how she would say "Eric?" when she called ... ok, so the phone rings, and I answer it and I say ... "Eric?"

There was a weird pause ... and then I think I said something like, "Uh, I mean, 'This is Eric speaking.'"

Yeah. That didn't work out... :D
