Eyebite question

Am I right that I would get my Spell Focus Enchantment to affect saving throws vs. the charm gaze? And that the duration of those charmed by the gaze would be 1 day/level as per a regular charm monster spell? That makes eyebite one of the best spells ever!!! :D

As far as I understand it, Spell Focus: Transmutation would apply to all of the effects of eyebite rather than the spell foci appropriate to the individual effects. A diviner who has necromancy as a prohibited school would be able to use the sickening gaze power of Eyebit but is unable to cast a necromancy spell. That leads me to believe that the use of Eyebites' powers is not tied to the ability to cast spells of a certain school or one's skill at casting spells of a certain school except Transmutation--the school of Eyebite and its effects as a whole.

No, I agree with Elder-Basilisk. The spell is a Transmutation, so only SF:Transmutation would increase the save DC. The charm gaze is an enchantment effect, so elves would get a +2 bonus against it, but you're not actually casting an enchantment spell.

And that the duration of those charmed by the gaze would be 1 day/level as per a regular charm monster spell?
Nope. Like the other effects of eyebite, the charm lasts 10 minutes per caster level.

I don't know--especially in 3.5, Eyebite is one of the best ways to get multiple effects going per round. In 3.5e, I think it will be the only way to do 3 effects per round (not counting Flaming Sphere which could push the number up to 4 but including a quickened spell).

Rats. It's not that cool, then. Still pretty good, but I'd better get something else.

I think it's a pretty decent choice, at least for a sorcerer. It's only a single known spell, yet you can pick from 4 effects, whichever will be more useful in a given situation.

I think my favorite thing about Eyebite is that you can use it through a Wall of Force...one of the few "offensive" spells you can, since it's a gaze attack.

Which leads to my admittedly grandiose scheme of hovering around in a Telekinetic Sphere, wreaking horror with Eyebites in safety.

Until someone hauls out a Disintegrate or Dispel. But until then, it's fun. :)

Eyebite is still very good.
You can create a variety of effects with the emotion spell as well.

Emotion's problem is the "duration: concentration" issue. I don't use concentration spells because I want to cast and move on to the next spell, not try to maintain one I've just cast. The benefits don't seem to outweigh the problems this causes as far as I can see. Am I wrong? Am I missing something about "duration: concentration" spels in general, and emotion specifically? I like emotion, just not the duration.

I don't know about Emotion--the duration: Concentration seems to be very limiting for the spell but other duration: Concentration spells are often either non-combat spells (such as the Detect X spells) or very powerful for their level and capable of removing many foes from combat (Rainbow Pattern, Calm Emotions).
