Nah, Druids don't scare me. Just teleport away from them. Now, 17th level wizards, that's a different story.

Well we have a Diviner 16, Alienist 16 and Radiant Servant 16.

They definitely do the trick!

Now that scares me! You should be virtually invincible. Thank goodness you are on the side of good. ;)

Heh, if you're teleporting away from the druids, it kind of indicates you're scared of them.

You know, given that you're running away and all.

*chuckle*

teleport away, scry, scry some more - ahhh, the druid is sleeping - fly, greater invisibility, teleport perhaps 300' above the druid (most druids are outside afterall), silenced delayed evocation, silenced delayed evocation....etc.

If the scrys fail, just teleport back to where the encounter occurred perhaps an hour later and cast find the path while invisible and flying.

If animals are a problem just polymorph into something with a scent that doesn't seem strange to them (like a bird or something).

Heck, determine one of the animals that is a follower of the druid that originally came to kill you with some divination spell and impersonate it to get close to the druid. There are so many things you could do, most of which a druid would be powerless to stop.

"Sure, I'm scared, but you're dead."

Your weapon doesn't resize when you polymorph so if you don't have a spare large weapon to hand you would be at penalties to hit and the weapon damage doesn't go up. Sometimes being a creature with good natural attacks is better which is why treant is so good (and the fact it only has 7HD

At 17th level you could get access to polymorph any object I assume, so this opens up outsider forms (unless of course you were already a native or full outsider). Planetar has great stats and gets +19 NA, Kelvezu demon gets great stats +15 NA and +8d6 sneak attack

Then of course there is shapechange

So when you polymorph (or by extension, shapechange) into anything other than a medium-sized, humanoid creature, all your gear becomes nonfunctional? I mean, a stone giant couldn't wear anything designed to fit a humanoid. Or does the 'resizing' bit about magic items come into play there?

That would be just about the only ruling that could persuade me to let Polymorph back into my game. As it is it will mean that any sensible party's meleers spend 90 % of all combats in some giant form.

Broken, I don't know.

Boring, hell yeah.

I believe you are mistaken. Check out Skip Williams' Rules of the Game article on Polymorphing, Part 3:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20040525a

For purposes of most polymorph effects, one can divide creatures into types that have basically humanoid shapes and those that do not, as follows:

Humanoid Shapes
Fey
Giant
Humanoid
Monstrous Humanoid
Outsider*

Nonhumanoid Shapes
Aberration
Animal
Dragon
Elemental
Ooze
Vermin

*Most, but not all outsiders have humanoid shapes.
In general, a change from one form that has a humanoid shape to another form that has a humanoid shape leaves all equipment in place and functioning. The subject's equipment changes to match the assumed form. It becomes the appropriate size for the assumed form and it fits the assumed form. The spellcaster can change minor details in your equipment, such as color, surface texture, and decoration.

When a subject changes from a form with a humanoid shape to a form with a nonhumanoid shape (or vice versa) most of his equipment is subsumed into the new form and becomes nonfunctional. Items the subject could conceivably wear in an assumed form remain functional. For example, most items worn on the body, such as armor, cloaks, boots, and most other items of clothing made for a humanoid body won't fit on a nonhumanoid body. Some items can fit on just about any kind of body. For example, a ring fits just about any form that has digits of some kind (the limit of two rings applies no matter how many hands or similar appendages a creature has). Likewise, a necklace fits on just about any form that has a neck.

A Polymorph Example

Our friend Anlion (from Part Two) is now an 8th-level sorcerer. Let's see what happens when he uses a polymorph spell to assume the forms of a lizardfolk and a troll.

Anlion (Normal Form): Male half-elf sorcerer 8; CR 8; Medium humanoid; HD 8d4; hp 20; Init +2; Spd 30 ft.; AC 14, touch 13, flat-footed 12; Base Atk +4; Grp +3; Atk +3 melee (1d6-1, quarterstaff)

Anlion (Troll Form): Male half-elf sorcerer 8; CR 8; Large giant (augmented humanoid); HD 8d4+48; hp 68; Init +2; Spd 30 ft.; AC 18, touch 12, flat-footed 16; Base Atk +4; Grp +14; Atk +9 melee (1d6+6, claw) or +9 melee (1d8+9, quarterstaff)

Note that the sorcerer's quarterstaff's damage die increased from 1d6 to 1d8 when he increased to large size.

Luckily for you, plans #1 and #2 are likely enough to get you so gruesomely killed if used against a competently played high level druid that I expect you would be saved the embarassment of being killed by plans #3 and #4.

Is there some reason you didn't pick a Storm Giant or a Titan? Fire Giants only seem to have Str 31.

So back to me original point, what's yer second skin preference and is there anything better out there, in your opinion, than a Fire Giant?
