Fee Fi Fo Fum, a Fire Giant I've become!!!

Oh yeah, there is a thread here with an actual topic.

I am fond of the Treant for the AC because at that level of play even the mooks have a lot of offense and unlucky criticals can really spoil your day. With that much spell power in the party just being a meatshield that keeps breathing is a viable, albeit less than glamorous, tactic.

I also play with DMs who are towards the stingy side when it comes to polymorphing and equipment. How does your DM handle it? Do you get to play a Treant in plate armor?

So would the treant be a good form for a level 15 druid? I'm not sure: the AC is nice (with barkskin, a RoP+2, and Mage Armor we're talking AC 31), but the damage is relatively small, I think: compare to a dire bear, whose AC is 3 less but who gets 3 attacks (15, 15, 14 on average, compared ot the treant's 16,16), AND two of which can start a grapple.

Hmm...I guess the treant does have the advantage of reach. It occurs to me that a druid15/monk1 would be great fun in treant form. WA-CHA!

Isn't that what the Wild attribute is for, more or less?

Yes, armor has to have the wild enchantment for it to transform and be useable in a wildshape form. Otherwise you had better have barkskin or mage armor or other defensive AC spells going. Preferably as many as can stack as possible.

Emphasis wildshape form. It won't do anything if you polymorph.

Polymorph doesn't let you adopt templated or otherwise non-average shapes. Otherwise, you could just polymorph into a half-fiend / half-dragon / pseudonatural / half-illithid / half-troll / celestial / axiomatic / paragon / titanic / tauric fire giant of legend that would have rolled 18 for all three physical abilities.

...just polymorph into a half-fiend half-dragon pseudonatural half-illithid half-troll celestial axiomatic paragon titanic tauric fire giant ninja-pirate of legend .

;)

Heh.
