Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was a massively promoted bomb in the United States but the name recognition value of the Final Fantasy series is still one of the strongest among fans of Japanese pop culture. Square Enix confirmed this week that the DVD release date for Final Fantasy: Advent Children has been pushed back to January 10, 2006 so that the film could have a possible limited theatrical release. No word yet on which theaters will run the film or if it will actually show up on the silver screen but it's a fair assumption that, if it does happen, it will screen in Los Angeles and possibly New York. Stay tuned - IGN Anime Report will publish the dates as soon as they're available.

Like many people, I've already snagged a subtitled version off the internet, but I really wanted to get the domestic release also; mostly because that seems to be the only way we'll also get the "Last Mission" anime OVA that was included in the Japanese release. Ah well, January 10 isn't that far away.
