Fighter Level 2 Utilities

Baumi

Adventurer
My Fighter will reach the second level today if he survives the adventure and as the optimist that I am, I'm already planning what to take. But WHAT should I take...

*Boundless Endurance: I have con+2 so this would give me a very nice 4 Regeneration, but I wonder if I still get it if it pushes me over the blooded status. I think that this is quite powerful, but only once per day.

*Get over here: I like Encounter Utilities but this one seems very limited since it uses up my move action and the target has to be adjacent before and after the action.

*No Opening: Only a small bonus, but can be really nice against skirmishers.

*Unstoppable: Not bad and a direct contender to Boundless Endurance. The only problem with this power is that it will usually give me 8 temporary hit points which only equals 2 rounds of Boundless Endurance for me. On the other hand I can cast this to get over my max hit points and I can use it when I am not bloodied.

So what should I take and why?

I like Unstoppable for those really tough fights, unless you have a party where others are going to be giving you a lot of temp hp in a tough fight, such as a warlord or cleric that has as their daily a power that gives everyone temp hp. But for you, with regeneration 4, I think I'd go with Boundless Endurance.

the fighter in my dnd group took boundless endurance.

you know it's a "stance" ability, which means it works for 5 min OR for the rest of the encounter. so everytime you get bloodied you get the regeneration again.

it's just too good not to take as long as you have the con to make it worthwhile. literally a lifesaver.

I agree that Boundless Endurance is really good, but note that you lose the effect when you use a different stance exploit. I don't think this is too big of a deal, since all of the stances (in Heroic tier, at the least) seem to be Dailies, but it's worth noting IMHO.

Boundless Endurance is best for fights you know will be tough. But Unstoppable is pretty sweet too, simply because it is a good "Oh #$@#%!" button. For emergencies and all that.

I like Boundless Endurance. I find it great in combat, able to heal you more HP than the temp hp given from Unstoppable.

My group plays it that the encounter continues until the players end it, so in any combat that the fighter ends in the Boundless stance, the group can wait a few rounds until he is no longer bloodied. This can save him a surge or two since he effectively ends that encounter at half hitpoints.

If your DM rules that once the enemies are done, the encounter is finished automatically, this particular use of the ability won't apply.

I play a fighter as well and I ended up going with Boundless Endurance. In a tough fight you can take the stance at the start of the fight (before you are bloodied) and then the regeneration will kick in automatically on the first round that you hit bloodied.

While the DM can rule that, it would be incorrect by RAW (they last for 5 minutes / for a short rest). I think the rules are around 41 in the DMG and somewhere in that 260-290 section in the PHB.
