[FULL] Sunless Citadel 3.5

Watermark12

First Post
Now recruiting for a game based on the original Wizards of the Coast Adventure Path series, starting at 1st level, with The Sunless Citadel. This campaign will use the 3.5 ruleset. I'd prefer players who don't know the ins and outs of these modules, but exceptions could be made.

If interested, please submit character concepts to this thread. I'll take 5 players, heroic alignments only, balanced party a must. Please observe the following guidelines before you make a submission.

1.Ability scores generated with a 28 point buy (racial modifiers applied after the buy).

2. Average starting gold by class to purchase equipment.

3. Max hp at 1st level.

4. I'm more than happy to review characters created with non-core rules, but please highlight any such material, and cite the source. All non-core material is subject to my approval.

5. Campaign setting is nominally Greyhawk (for purpose of background geography and deities).

I'm interested in seeing characters with a fully detailed character sheet, and some notes on personality, background and appearance.

Thanks! Who's interested?

Appearance: Galstadt Trustryke is a short thin young man. He seems to stay mostly to himself and speaks little, if at all, about his past. He has pitch black hair with streaks of white here and there. His one remarkable feature is his deep violet eyes, but few people see these as he seems to make a conscious effort not to make eye contact. He generally wears drab traveling clothes with a pouch at his side and a backpack on his back. He can most often be seen with his nose in a book.

Personality: Galstadt is an introvert who keeps mostly to himself. He has few friends but those he does call friend know him as a competent wizard. He takes his magic seriously and strives for perfection in his spells.

History: Gallen Trustryke had been an adventurer in his youth. He had done well and was ready to settle down. Catching the eye of Marta Wistl, a local barmaid he chose to leave the adventuring life for farming. So he married Marta, bought several acres just outside of town and started his family.

Although he had been a good adventurer Gallen found that farming eluded him. But he and Marta had no trouble having children and by the time of their tenth anniversary their ninth child was due in a month. Although farming wasn’t going well, Gallen still had plenty of money from his adventuring days and he was able to provide well for his large family.

Things changed when little Gail arrived. She was their first daughter and both daughter and mother came down with a terrible fever. It took all of Gallen’s remaining wealth to pay for the healers to take care of his wife’s and daughter’s illness. In order to keep food on the table, he found work for all eight of his sons at a local wizard’s tower. Waltuz the Conjurer made arrangements for the boys to work for him and stay at the tower with him.

The Trustryke boys cleaned up and did odd jobs for the wizard. Galstadt was the youngest of the eight boys and the brightest. Because of this he was often picked on by the others. It didn’t help matters when Waltuz decided to make Galstadt an apprentice. Galstadt was glad when he had finally mastered his first cantrip of prestidigitation. This allowed him to entertain his brothers and they tended to let up on him, some.

At first Galstadt found conjuring spells difficult. Several attempts left white streaks in his normally pitch black hair. Waltuz, whose hair was completely white, told the boy that such things were normal while learning. Soon Galstadt was conjuring without ill effects. He had placed a number of spells into his own spellbook, given to him by his master.

Things changed drastically when one day Waltuz was in the middle of conjuring a terrible demon. One of Galstadt’s brothers accidentally tripped and fell into the wizard as he was completing the spell. The demon was successfully conjured, but was not bound correctly. Enraged and not bound the demon quickly made short work of the wizard and Galstadt’s three brothers that were present in the room. Galstadt himself was knocked unconscious by flying debris.

When he awoke he found the room in shambles. From the sounds in an adjoining room he surmised that the beast was still there. Thinking quickly he loaded a backpack with his spellbook, his spell components pouch, several scrolls he found nearby, some food, and a waterskin. Trying to be as quiet as possible he snuck away.

Next he decided to check in with parents and sister. Returning to his home he found it had been abandoned for at least ten years. Asking around, he got the real story. His parents had sold him and his brothers to the wizard and then they had moved far away with the money they had made from the transaction.

Definitely interested... should be able to make up a character by the end of the day. Thinking of a rogue of some sort...

Hello ! I'm interested also. What would You say about using feats from "Book of Exalted Deeds" and Warlock class from "Complete Arcane" ? I'm playing with thought of redeemed one, who tries to pay up for evil that is lurking in his heart. Follower of Heironeus's ideals. :D

Warlocks ? Supernatural wizard like folks. Similiar to sorcerers with that that they have innate power, but devolp it trough very limited amount of spelllike abilities and bonuses.

Saves as Sor/Wiz, several special powers gained over levels like Damage Reduction negated by Cold Iron, two weak energy resistances on high level, short time Fast Healing, Detect Magic on 2 lvl, and Invocations that are somethig between Spelllike Abilities and Spells. Eldritch Blast ... 60' range, magic missile type, d6 damage on 1 lvl. All Invocations that Warlock can use are at will, including Eldritch blast. Overall, he make up for Wizard's firepower with his skills and better HP and Base Attack Bonus. Best invocations allow him to emulate 5 or 6 spell lvl. And over all he can have 11 of them on 20 lvl, unless he will burn up Feats to gain more invocations of lesser pwer than his maximum.

Money: Well, he's broke. :o

Carrying Capacity - 0-33# Light load, 34-66# Medium load, 67-100# Heavy load

Personality:
A bit grim, but good hearted. He is little shy of his dread powers ... saw many wizards who became corrupt without wielding even a small fraction of his might and this concerns him greatly. All stories told him by paladin knights still remained in his memory, as well as his best friend ... who wanished mysteriously.

History: Briefly, will write something more apporiate when inspiration strike. Scion of evil family of Warlocks, paladins raided his home when he was to be initiated to family's "benefactor" a polite fiend. Small kid fled into the forest, where pixie or something ... rescued him and returned to Knights of Heironeus. Paladins were puzzled what to do with one who, being innocent, inherits dark power of the fiend due to the pact made by his family. And so ... kid was raised in knight's chapter so they could teach him ways of good, and watch for signs of evil. If not his secret friend, he would flee earlier with evil growing in his heart for all those failed attempts to discipline him. On his coming of age, wich captured him on the road, something miracolous happened. A nymph appeared and blessed deeply embarassed young man who, first time in his life, devolped small glimmer of hope.

The group seems to be magic heavy, but I wanted to ask if you'd allow a psion. I'm actually considering working towards psion/ninja(CAd)/shadowmind(CAd). But if that won't work I can work up a monk( or whatever class is needed for that matter) too. Let me know and I'll get a character together. Just for your reference, I have DMed this series, but heavily modified for the younger audience, so I'm hoping that won't put a damper on things.

Tailspinner: Galstadt Trustryke is accepted!

Harvey: A rogue would be great.

DarkMaster: A battle sorcerer could work, depending on how you role-play him, and what sort of background he has. Let's see the character.**

Rikandur Azebol: Feats from 'Book of Exalted Deeds' could work, but you should know that I'm going to disallow Vow of Poverty. It's nothing against it per se, it's just that I'm already DMing a game where someone's using that feat, so I want to see something new. I don't own Complete Arcane, so I will need some details about the Warlock class. Conceptually, the character sounds interesting, let's see what you can come up with.**

shadowbloodmoon: I don't own Complete Adventurer (yet), so I would need details concerning the ninja and shadowmind classes. I would allow a psion-based character, no problem. As for submitting a sorcerer, see below.

**Be aware, that with a conjurer already accepted into the game, I will take at most one more arcane magic-based character (remember, I'm looking for balanced party). So, bear that in mind.

Changed my mine I will go with a Lara croft rogue type, beautifull skilled woman.

Valeria is a young women who was raised in the street. Her parents never really cared for her and they literally left her own her own at around 10. She lived off the street for the last 5 years using whatever means to get money. Selling her body, various drugs and other illegal things. These experiences allowed her to meet and know various influent people in various area. As a prostitute she met a few high dignitary and as a drug smuggler and she got involved in the darker world (knowledge local).

A year ago a priest Pelor paid for her services. But the men simply wanted to talk. They talked for about an hour about the path. He basically tried to save her from her life. For 6 months he visited her every week. Slowly she started to realise how wrong her life was. She fell in love with the priest and got engaged and were about to marry a week ago. The priest was sent to battle by his order and she just received a letter telling her that he was killed in battle. Very affected by the death of her lover she decided to go around the world to help the other as her lover was doing, somehow continuing his quest.

For a 16 years old she looks amazingly mature (almost like a 20 years old girl). She is extremely beautiful and knows her ways with men. She deceived a lot of her "lover".

Valeria is a beautifull lady with black hair usually tied in a pony tail. She has very delicate facial features.

What do you think

Watermark, to qualify for the shadowmind class, I need to be at least a third level manifester, so I wouldn't worry about that yet. As far as ninja goes, it is in a sense a combination of monk/ rogue, swapping increased unarmed damage for sudden strike (similar to, but less powerful than, sneak attack) and instead of enhanced movement, I get a special ki powers related to stealth later on. Since you don't have the book though, I can stick with psion for the first three levels if you'd like.

Here's what I had in mind for this character's background:

Imrehsa was born at the temple where she was trained. At least, that is what her masters would like her to believe. The truth she would find out later and this would preempt her decision to leave. She was prophecied to have psionic potential by the leaders of the temple and instead of asking her parents, she was taken away just after she was born. For several years, these masters developed her ability to peer into the minds of others as well to hide herself from peering eyes. When she was finally of age, she was told the truth of the matter. She was being developed into a weapon against the original temple that spawned this corrupt version. On her first mission, she professed this to the head of the true temple, who took her in and protected her. Incensed by this action, the corrupt temple provided information to the local military forces implicating Imrehsa's new home as the source of numerous crimes that were actually being performed by their own operatives. This military destroyed the temple by sword and flame and Imrehsa barely escaped with her life. She now wanders in search of another temple to continue her training and eventually procure vengeance on the corrupt temple.

I be thinking you need a stout warrior of some kind, perhaps a dwarf fighter. Would you allow the Races of Stone 1st level substition level for fighter, loses the first level bonus feat in exchange for a +1 bonus to attack with all axes (counts as weapon focus).
