It is interesting to spend most of the playtest period prior to publishing on things that likely wont ever see the light of day again, and to cram the real playtest into the relative last minute.
 



It is interesting to spend most of the playtest period prior to publishing on things that likely wont ever see the light of day again, and to cram the real playtest into the relative last minute.
I like it. Why not see if there is anything out there that is a dark horse that people end up loving. Shows that while they intend to play it safe they are open to something new if it blows people away.
 

This is generally how brainstorming works, you spend lots of time going through dozens of failed ideas, then you narrow down on the key ideas that are working.

And that they're using the public to do their brainstorming for them is just further evidence that they have no conviction or confidence in their own ideas, which is just sad.

I wonder how they plan to do that one while only thinking about players until the entire PHB & core system rules are finalized. 2014 5e was written with a lot of areas assuming that a significant chunk of DMs were some flavor of horrible sterotype & the playtest packets aren't showing too much growth on that point
