Good marketing, though? It is interesting to spend most of the playtest period prior to publishing on things that likely wont ever see the light of day again, and to cram the real playtest into the relative last minute.
This is generally how brainstorming works, you spend lots of time going through dozens of failed ideas, then you narrow down on the key ideas that are working. It is interesting to spend most of the playtest period prior to publishing on things that likely wont ever see the light of day again, and to cram the real playtest into the relative last minute.

Shows that while they intend to play it safe they are open to something new if it blows people away.It is interesting to spend most of the playtest period prior to publishing on things that likely wont ever see the light of day again, and to cram the real playtest into the relative last minute.

What a ridiculous take. They are having the public, people who play the game regularly, test their brainstorming not do it for them. And that they're using the public to do their brainstorming for them is just further evidence that they have no conviction or confidence in their own ideas, which is just sad.
