Guitar Hero question

This is probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure before I spend the money.

For Playstation II - The guitar from Guitar Hero I will work on Guitar Hero II, right?

I ask because I'm not into video games but played this recently at my cousins house and fell it love with it. He lives too far away for me to play it all the time so now I want my own. Best Buy has an offer for a PS2 w/ Guitar Hero I and guitar and I was thinking of getting that and then getting GH2.

Not a stupid question at all. The guitars both work with both games. We've got a guitar from GH and GH2, and we've used them with both GH and GH2. You shouldn't have any trouble.

As long as you are using the official guitar from RedOctane.

Apparently third party ones which did work on I don't work on II.
