Heading To Atlanta: Game Stores & What To Do?

So I'm heading to Atlanta on a red-eye tonight for a wedding of one of my wife's friends. I can't say I'm really looking forward to it 'cause I don't really like flying much. I guess it will be a good chance to catch up on some reading (I bought the graphic novel 1602 by Neil Gaiman, and I also have the Iron Kingdoms Character Guide I can read, plus I can continue working on the d20 book I'm writing.

We're staying in some place called Buckhead.

Any chance that there are some cool game stores nearby that I can convince my wife that we just have to go to?

Any suggestions for other stuff to do? My wife wants to check out the Coca Cola Museum.

Possibly the best game and comic store I know of in Atlanta is Oxford Comics, 2855 Piedmont Rd. Excellent huge selection of games, both brand new and out of print, plus a tremendous comics section (including the largest graphic novel/trade paperback collection I've seen to date), anime and collectables. Well worth the time to go there and it's not far from where you'll be.

Sword of the Phoenix is indeed a good shop as well. They have a nice discount bin, a tremendous selection of games including a nice assortment of 'off the wall' stuff, plus magazines.

Well, thanks.

Unfortunately, I had already left and didn't see this until I got back. I did find Oxford Comics accidentally while looking for a (now defunct) bookstore I'd read about called Oxford Games. As it turns out, we were on a pretty tight scheduled with all of the "wedding festivities" and didn't get to go to any game stores. :(

We did vist the World of Coca Cola and on Sunday we headed out to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

We also ended up at two quirkly restaurants for dinner: the Buckhead Diner and Dante's Down-the-Hatch.

Since her friend lives there, hopefully we'll go back some day and I can take in some more sites, including Oxford Comics, Sword of hte Phoenix, and the War Room.

I'm in Atlanta also, but I don't have a car, so I don't really know directions too well. Plus I didn't see this thread until a day late. Sorry I couldn't help.

By the way, if you want cheap Magic cards, there's this place called TNT Toys up I-85, where you can get a box for, like, $85. Compared to retail of about $130.
