Heart of Artifice: Part I--Engineered Enigma

Anvuss figures his chances of killing anything without enhancing his weapon are minimal, even without fighting specifically to subdue. He steps forward on the defensive and smashes his morningstar into a Raver's armor, as a harmless 'warning shot.'

*Anvuss misses his target rather badly. Meanwhile, another Raver charges in to attack Anvuss but makes an equally clumsy attack. Kharas moves to flank with Elizabeth, and he barely manages to hit and knock unconscious Aethelus's target. Also, from over here he can see the last Raver at the edge of his Darkvision, which isn't really an issue, as the Raver charges him with a rusty shortsword and misses her mark. The final Raver is only able to charge Anvuss and also misses. Elizabeth moves to flank with Anvuss, trying another punch. The Raver takes an attack of opportunity, which Elizabeth dodges as she smacks the Raver on the side of the head, and the Raver drops.*

(OOC: Aethelus now--I forgot to mention, but he reloaded last round when I assumed what he would do. There are two enemies--one each on Kharas and Anvuss)

Aethelus will fire a shot at the one attacking Kharas. He will try his best not to take a killing blow, leaving the final shot to someone attacking to subdue. But without any weapons currently capable of striking to subdue he'll at least try to soften them up, though were he to kill one he wouldn't be heartbroken about it.

*Aethelus's shot misses due to the uncertainty of firing into melee. Meanwhile, Anvuss shifts, not flanking yet with Elizabeth but close enough that she can do so with a 5-foot-step, and he strikes a minor blow with his morningstar.*

(OOC: Kharas's turn, then two Ravers)

Kharas swing again his heavy mace, giving a good hit counting teh fact he try not to kill his opponent.

[SBLOCk=OOC]Attack: 17 and damage: 4[/SBLOCK]

*Kharas hits his target fairly well with a nonlethal attack. Then the two ravers attack, but both of them fail to land their blows. Elizabeth moves to flank with Anvuss and attacks, provoking an attack from the raver, who scores a deep cut across her arm as she moves it up to knock him in the temple. She sighs: "I guess I need to get that healed or I'll worry poor Diggy to death" as the Raver drops unconscious.*

(OOC: El takes 7 Damage

Aethelus, Anvuss, Kharas, then the last Raver)

Kharas continue to attack his opponent, trying to go into bracket if someone else come to help him.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Attack:14 and damage: 6. The attack doesn't include any possible bracket. [/SBLOCK]

(OOC: I'll pretend you flanked)

*Anvuss moves to flank and knocks the last Raver out cold.*

*Elizabeth goes quickly to check on the pulses of those who had suffered significant harm, from Aethelus's bolt and Anvuss's Morningstar mostly, and she administers first aid where applicable.*

"Thank you for not killing any of them...if we could afford the time, I would try to see if their madness could be treated by House Jorasco, but we don't have that luxury. Let's drag the bodies to a quick nearby shelter where they'll hopefully be a bit safer and then we can proceed."

*Even if no one agrees to help her, Elizabeth will perform that task herself. After it is finished, she turns to her own wound, bandaging it with some leftover cloth from her first aid kit to prevent any further bleeding or infection.*

"Okay, sorry for the delay. Very nice work everyone. Now let us continue."

*Elizabeth leads them down and around through a circuitous route that eventually leads to a subterranean cavern system under Sharn, which in turn leads to a hewn stone ruins.*

[SBLOCK=Knowledge History DC 15]It looks Dhakaani.[/SBLOCK]

*Elizabeth leads them past a defunct gate guarded symbolically in sculpture by a big stone lion, though it clearly is not a construct of any sort, leading into a large chamber with four clawed pillars, holding a Sapphire, an Emerald, a Diamond, and a Ruby. The chambers walls are covered in runic symbols of an ancient alphabet that resembles modern Goblin. The floor is engraved with intricate swirling patterns, leading up to a huge circle with an incredibly complex geometric design inside, with the bejeweled pillars set along the circumference of the circles.*

"Great Galifar!" Elizabeth gasps.
