Help my 12 hp wizard (lvl 4)

I'm with Frank. You're a Necromancer - do what you do best. Die.

You'll get a d12 HD then and lotsa nifty things. I recommend Encyclopedia Arcane: Necromancy (I believe that's what it's called). It's got some low power undead templates that you can use. All the fun of being dead, without all the lich power that would throw off a level 4 campaign.

Ok, I have another suggestion here...

Leadership.

You want to have a *VERY* devoted and loyal cohort. Think barbarian. You want them to have hit points out the wazoo. Also, it would help if they had the INT and WIS of a bucket of snot.

Then whenever you need to, cast spectral hand and take some HP from the follower to juice your self back up.

Also, when you can learn (and then cast) magic jar and simply take over their body.

Raise your Con instead of your Int at 4th & 8th.

Sacrilege!

Get your DM to use the 3.0 toad

Can't. Already got me a "familiar" named Skelly - I'm using a necromancer variant from UA, which is why I don't need to worry so much about things getting into melee range. Especially in a few levels when I start raising my undead army (so much fun!).

Get the leadership feat
Regarding the leadership feat, having a cohort doesn't really fit into my character concept. Plus, undead friends are so much better than live ones!

Ok, with this attitude the sooner you become undead, the safer you will be.

Hmmm, you doing a solo game? If not and you feel that way, then arrange a few 'accidents' for the fellow party members to expand thier time on this world indefinitly while you seek a suitible form on undeath for yourself.

Once you become undead, you will want to spend the loot to make a turn resistance amulet. It can replace what you would have spent on Con-boosters

The idea is so tempting, but I'm completely uninterested in losing caster levels (right now). My last wizard was a fatespinner, and while the concept was remarkably fun, it left a bad taste in my mouth regarding the lost of caster levels.

I don't see picking up undead benefits without losing something, and I'm thinking that something would almost have to be levels.

So who says the cohort has to be (or, point of fact, REMAIN) alive ... ?

Unapproachable East has the "Dread Warrior" template, which basically turns somethign into a not-quite-brainless zombie; Magic of Faerun has the Crypt Spawn template.

And at higher levels, a vampire cohort could be useful. ^_^

In fact, as a GM, I'd have no problem with a new feat, "Undead Cohort" - all the bennies of Dragon Cohort (Draconomicon), but with an undead instead of a dragon.

Heck. Get "Dragon Cohort", and get a (young) dracolich as our sidekick. ^_^

Get an ogre skeleton, a big suit of full plate, a couple craftsmen, and an embalmer.

Then ride around inside your big ol' armored skeleton's chest cavity! Make your own undead 'mech - become a mechromancer!

heh... or just hollow out a stone giant zombie. ;)

work with the dm, make up some strange undead template you can work for, then enter it.

It will probably take time, and a lot of various strange things, but hey, it'll work ;)

So long as your dm is willing to work with you, and doesnt mind undead in the party!
