Feeling responsible for her situation, though he'd caused none of it, Owyn rushes to Butrea's defense. Narrowly missing his first strike, he pulled forth a surge or energy to make a second.

Round 4
Mindra spun away and put an arrow through the shadow attacking Beturea. It definitely made a big hole in the dark figure, but didn’t seem to do as much damage as it should have, though the shadow wavered a bit. Mindra ducked behind some crates of supplies to hide.
Owyn rushed over and finished the job, sending the shadow attacking Beturea evaporating into the dim light of the Bone Forest.
Theremin focused on protecting himself from the shadows
OOC:
Theremin Dodges.
Alet found himself facing two of the shadow creatures, one which glowed from the bard’s spell. Alet murmured some words and stamped his foot. A wave of thunder rolled from him, slamming into the shadows. It didn’t do as much damage as he’d expected, but it was something.
Sayine flew over to help Alet, breathing a rainbow cone of colors over the two shadows attacking him. The shadows howled, flailing around blindly.
“Thanks,” Beturea told Owyn. She moved up to help Alet as well, stabbing her rapier at the shadow sparkling with faerie fire, sliding the rapier into the shadow’s form, frustrated she wasn’t doing as much damage as she should.
Crimsyn was facing off with two shadows as well. She spun her spiked chain twice at them. She missed the second, but the first evaporated with a howl under her attack.
The shadows attacking Alet flailed blindly at him. He managed to parry them aside or avoid them.
The glittering shadow that wasn’t currently engaged headed for the cause of its glitteriness, attacking Theremin, missing him completely.
Crimsyn couldn’t hold off the attack by the other shadow facing her, however, and hissed as its deadly touch passed through her once more.
The other shadow facing Theremin tried to touch him, as well, but failed.

Theremin is still shaking from the touch of the shadow, he carefully moves away and repositions himself away from the front line. As he moves he sings words of inspiration that resonate in Owyn’s ears.
OOC:
I’m back, sorry about the delay.
action: widthdraw
Move: as far away from the front line as possible, preferably close to Owyn or the ballista
Bonus action: bardic inspiration on owyn, he gains 1d6 inspiration dice
Seeing as Beturea insists on continuing to put herself in harms way, Mindra prioritizes her targets to help her as much as she can. Lining up on the oddly sparkly shadow Mindra sinks an arrow into it before hiding back behind her crates.

Round 5
Alet muttered words of power and swung his sword at the shadow he was fighting, green flames sparking along the serrated blade of his greatsword. A bit of that green flame jumped from his target to another nearby shadow, burning it with a small bit of magical fire.
Sayine bit the shadow fighting Alet in the face, then spat out a mouthful of shadow. The shadow was full of holes, ragged.
Beturea stepped up and finished it off.
Crimsyn’s chain swept around and slammed into the shadow, nearly slicing it in two, though it held together in silent menace.
The shadow that glittered with Theremin’s faerie fire closed on Beturea, reaching for her with its shadowy talons. Beturea cried out in pain as her skin blackened and shriveled, barely remaining on her feet.
The shadow facing Crimsyn tried its deadly touch on her again, but she held her spiked chain, glowing with black energy, and actually parried the reaching arm. Unfortunately, her turn put her right into the touch of the third remaining shadow, causing her to gasp in pain, though she seemed to take less damage from the necrotic touch.

Mindra is getting a bit desperate as she and her friends have yet to take down one of the shadows. Hoping to thin their numbers, she continues to focus on the shadows attacking Beturea, but also trying to target a shadow that looks fairly ragged already. Taking aim, she pierces another shadow with an arrow then moves back behind her cover but in her desperation she stumbles a bit, advertising her location in a most unprofessional manner.

Round 6
Theremin mocked the shadow, and it cringed back from him.
Owyn moved up to help Crimsyn, but his attack on the shadow missed.
Mindra put an arrow through the shadow attacking Beturea, doing good damage, but not as much as she expected.
Alet’s greatsword flared with green flame again, slicing through the shadow, the green fire leaping to the next one as well, leaving the shadow in tatters, barely holding together.
Sayine bit the shadow, too, but didn’t do any damage.
Beturea stepped forward and finished it off, however.
Crimsyn whirled her spiked chain around, striking at the shadows she fought, striking one of them down.
The last remaining shadow reached for Owyn, but he managed to step back from the thing’s necrotic touch.

Harried by the creature's attention, Owyn takes another swing at it, but doesn't seem to have his usual precision. His blade falls short once again.

Round 7
The shadow ignored Theremin’s taunts.
Alet extended his hand toward the last remaining shadow. Sparks of magic shot out at the shade, slamming into its dark form, peppering it with holes.
Sayine flew over to the shadow and flapped around it to try and distract it.
Beturea closed in on the shadow, despite her own injuries, but only managed to graze it.
Crimsyn, though, managed to finish it off with her spiked chain, sending the wisps of shadow off into the dark forest.
The river and forest were quiet now. Shadows still lurked in the darkness, but no threats seemed to be near them for now.

Theremin is livid. He was badly injured, and feels weak, something he isn’t accustomed to. He instinctively grabs his lute to comfort himself, and plays a soothing song.
OOC:
assuming a short rest, use of song of rest, additional d6 recovered.
Theremin uses 1 HD and recovers 9hp. He is at -1 full hp.
Once rested, he uses inspiring leader to give back 8 temp hp to all
He says to his companions: “most of my magics are depleted. I’ll need to rest longer to face more attacks like this one”
"We can all use a rest after that," Mindra looks around at the gloomy forest, "but we'll have to stay alert."
Weakened by a hit from a shadow, Mindra finds a place to sit back and rest. She tries to remain aware of her surroundings, but rest takes precedent. She hopes that those less effected by the shadows can keep watch for an hour while she recovers her strength.
Owyn visibly relaxes as he realizes that the last of the creatures had been destroyed. He watches the shadows flit about the shore nervously, but is unhurt. "Go ahead and get some rest, I'm fine for now."

Round 0
Everyone remained on edge the rest of the way through the Bone Forest, but eventually the river exited the forest for the open plains again, and it was easier to keep watch, allowing the members of the party to get a bit of rest as the river widened a bit as it approached a lake. Where the river flowed into the lake, another wooden palisade wall could be seen in the darkness of the Shadowfell night by the watch fires burning atop it. It looked a lot like Alet and Crimsyn’s village.
“We’re here,” Crimsyn said, taking in the sail a bit, letting the boat float on the current.
Alet mounted a white cloth on a pole on the prow, and Crimsyn put one up the mast as well.
“Let’s hope they talk first before shooting,” Beturea said, glancing at Owyn, Theremin, Mindra, and Coriana.
OOC:
You all managed a short rest on the trip down the river, so you can roll your hit dice and let me know your new totals. You also have 1d6 extra points and 8 thp from Theremin.
For those of you who lost Strength and have negatives, I am going to treat those kind of like Exhaustion. Every Long Rest will recover a point of Strength. A spell like Lesser Restoration will recover all your lost Strength.
