Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

It feels a bit Assassin's Creed: Sherwood (having said that, that's a game I'd play).
Yeah Id play that

This looks very much derivative of every other version thats gone before - and very CW
Was Robin of Sherwood good, or am I remembering incorrectly?
The Herne the Hunter mythology made it distinctive within the multiverse of Robins

Regardless of the adaptation, Maid Marian is always a fox.
Maid Marian wasn't originally part of the Robin Hood stories. She comes from the tradition of French pastoral poetry about the shepherd Robin and the country lass Marian. When those works crossed over to England, "Robin" became confused with Robin from the Robin Hood legends, and so Robin Hood acquired a love interest in Marian.

Another interesting (well, I think so at least) factoid: Will Scarlet was, in some older stories, Will Skylark.

Have we ever had a well-cast Robin Hood after Errol Flynn? Even when the adaptation itself is great (like Disney’s), Robin Hood himself is usually terribly boring.
Sean Connery did a pretty good job as an older Robin in Robin & Marion (1976). The movie covers the end of Robin's life which isn't the part of the story most of us are familiar with.

Sean Bean is a spoiler that the Sheriff dies in the movie.
Beat me to it. That's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm also wondering what period this is Set in. It appears Connie Nielson is the Queen, but what periods of English History had the Queen? Is she Bloody Mary? Which Queen is she supposed to be?

Edit: Ah, someone answered that. She's Eleanor. Don't recall her ever ruling...at least England Proper. She had her own lands (which made for a weird situation with Richard where he was King and yet also a vassal of sorts)...but I don't recall Robin Hood happening in those lands.

Oh well.

I don't have MGM+ (didn't even know it was a thing).

Eleanor of Aquitaine, queen 1189-1204, wife of Henry II, mother of Richard and John. Not someone to be trifled with!

Mary I was about 300 years later, and had no children.
