High level M&M?

You see some people crazy enough to run some high level D&D games but I've seen few, and played in zero, Mutants and Mastermind that dealt with high levels… (PL14+)

Is there anyone one out there crazy enough to run such a thing?

I actually doubt, that it is much different to running PL 10 M&M. Very much unlike D&D, where power increase by level is much higher. :)

Yes and no, the M&M system does breakdown at lower levels and at higher levels advancement means much less.

To me M&M is alot harder to plan for... What would be a cakewalk for one PL10 character could be neigh imposable for a PL20 or a group of PL10s.

Thanee, I saw you had some questions on ATT the other day how long have you been playing and did you find a game or not?

it would probably be pretty hard to come up with interesting stories for heroes in that powerlevel. They can do such an awfull lot of stuff.

Its right around the level of the Justice League from the animated series, and I think the series is pretty darn good.

I ran a short Ultimite Justice League that was PL 15-18 [Super and Bats were 18, Wonderwoman, Abin Sur (Green Lantern), Flash and Black Tom (original Shazam) were 17, Plastic Man was 16, Green Arrow and Warrior (Guy Gardner) was 15]

It was a lot of fun but I set it during an invasion by Darkseid, so they fought Dog Soldiers, Tanks, Huge Flying Battle Wagons and then the Furries (who where very powerful.. the highest one was PL14, but I max lots of stuff all over the place and they gave the players a REAL run for the money).

Darkseid was of course the big bad and the end and they won... by making a deal ;)

Higher-level games are fun but can be all over the place. Batman had like 15 hero points and would pull all kinds of crazy stuff BUT it was a lot of fun. The problem was always balancing and challenging them.

Things that I changed... was how Vulnerability worked a bit. I allowed normal Attributes to still add to the save. If Martian Manhunter, PL17-18 with that many ranks of Protection or Amazing save, you are going to be fighting people with Damage bonuses between 15 and 20… so a DC30-35, rolling a +0 is a bit hard ;)

Someday I will run it again BUT I would totally play in one

Atomic Think Tank, the official M&M forums. :)

Ah, only posted a couple rules questions there to get some official answer on them. :)

I've only played in two PbP's here (which both didn't get continued by the respective GM unfortunately).

Mathematically, normal stats (and feats) would mean more the lower you get, since they are not limited by PL.

Yeah, the transfer from strict class system to purely point-buy does that. In D&D, everyone has something useful in combat, even if it might not be thematical (wizards and commoners getting BAB comes to mind). In M&M, you have to make sure you're not a wimp (by following the comic convention that even the scrawny professor has some Amazing Saves - if he is a hero ;) ), and if you don't, you might get screwed in combat (i.e. Data ;) ).

Most importantly, it's linear. Supes firing a rank 20 energy blast at Doomsday with rank 15 prot (hey, I haven't read Superman, OK, just assuming that the guy that killed Supes was an invulnerable badass) is mathematically the same thing as Punisher firing a rank 5 machinegun at a mook with no bonuses to DMG save. (But as mentioned above, the mook's Con makes up more of his DMG save than Doomsday's Con.)
