Here's my general concept of a campaign setting, and I would like some suggestions and input from people who are familiar with the following.
I want to take Etherscope as the 'background' campaign setting, mash it up with X-Crawl as the 'foreground' setting (i.e. dungeon-crawling as a sport akin to the gladiatorial games of Rome along with the additional rules for Mojo, Fame, etc.), and then do it all within the framework of the Pathfinder game system, probably including most anything from Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Magic and Combat (including basic firearms), and a few things from Tome of Horrors thrown in for added fun. Not sure about the Athlete alt-class, though; it's a lightweight relative to PF standard classes. Maybe it's best treated as an NPC class?
The campaign world would be steampunk/victorian-era, exploring other worlds and bringing back exotic creatures (and NPCs) to use in dungeoncrawling. The campaign would progress into a more conventional style of play when Things That Are Too Powerful get brought back and get let loose in the PCs' native world.
Dungeoncrawling would have the same restrictions as X-Crawl does, such as regulated and banned spells, and firearms would be banned outright (PC gunslingers would necessarily have to do some multiclassing).
X-Crawl's modernistic equipment would probably be superseded by Pathfinder's native equipment.
X-Crawl's Signature Moves might be superseded by style feats, or the ones in X-Crawl's core book converted into them?
I'm not much familiar with Etherscope itself other than the premise behind the campaign setting, but I'm hoping the technology from it will mesh nicely.
What do you think?
