Noted. I'll add it to my list.

{I'm still trying to finish up the Dark Tower series, middle of book 4.}

ah, well its not a hard read. Its really a graphic Novel :heh: but its still really good. You might be able to find a few volumes at the library. Its still in the works, meaning that its unfinished but not eternally so.

You might not like it, but then again you might. I am going out on a limb and say that Berserk is the Conan of japan. Although its a midevil setting and very traditional, it slowly becomes more fantastic, hence the "uber blade" but really... how else do you kill dragons?

If you cant find a copy at the library, let me know. maybe I can help.

*oops back on topic... fullblade.... um.....

Trick 'em into investing heavily in garbage stocks, then engineer a market crash... that should get 'em to commit suicide.

I never said (or at least didn't mean to say) it wasn't "fantasy". Fantasy has been split into many subcategories. D&D is typically best characterized as medieval fantasy.

Cloud (and Final Fantasy) is best captured via using the d20 modern system instead and not D&D. That was really all I was trying to point out. d20 Modern revolved around automatic weapons and the like (pretty much a staple to Final Fantasy and the like). There have been several WotC products (and Dragon magazine {oh to mourn its loss ; ( ) that attempted to capture introducing guns into the game. But they all were along the lines of muzzle loaders and the "early" generation of guns and gunpowder. None of them had automatic weapons nor motorcycles (again they are predominant in d20 Modern). IMO, mixing genres causing vast inconsistencies, like the one you pointed out on the fullblade (which really doesn't correspond in design to Cloud's weapon, IMO).

And how does this make it not D&Dish really? Especially not 3E D&Dish? Notice the whole dungeonpunk and crystalpunk thing 3E has going in much of its art? And it's not like real-world legends and myths never spoke of heroes possessing incredible strength or remarkable weapons.

Maybe ya didn't notice, but Final Fantasy usually involves a lot more fantasy than it does pseudo-science; automatic weapons and the like were, in FF7 frex, generally the province of Shinra, Barret, and Dyne. Sure, there were occasional mecha-like things made by Shinra, but generally you had a bunch of people running around with archaic weaponry and slaying dragons, chimeras, wurms, and whatnot. FF is better suited to D&D than D20 Modern, really; even the DMG has stats for a few guns, and they're not the focus of FF. Cloud and the rest are generally more like D&D characters in their phenomenal toughness, archaic weaponry, potent and widespread magic use, and the vast numbers of hideously powerful monsters running amok all around them. Sure there was the occasional alien and the uncommon bits of high-tech or modern-tech stuff, but most places, critters, and towns were more medieval than not. Vehicles (which are only generally common in the wealthier places in FF) are the only thing from D20 Modern that would really need porting into D&D, the rest is basically there.

Well is it really a "D&D icon" - since that was the original premise?

Fantasy iconic figure, that specifically was tied to D&D (the latter is my assertation).

From the wikipedia (pretty much matches other dictionary sources I've checked and works as a synopsis of what an icon in this context referes to)

Wikipedia:

An icon (from Greek εἰκών, eikon, "image") is an image, picture, or representation; it is a sign or likeness that stands for an object by signifying or representing it, or by analogy, as in semiotics; in computers an icon is a symbol on the monitor used to signify a command, file or record; by extension, icon is also used, particularly in modern popular culture, in the general sense of symbol — i.e. a name, face, picture, edifice or even a person readily recognized as having some well-known significance or embodying certain qualities.

Now is Cloud an immediate icon for D&D?

The characters from LotR, Arthurian legends, etc, - all "immediately" call a reference (or symbol) to D&D.

Let us have some fun........
Durvish-Slashing blades Normal Scimitar (light weapon)
2 size incresses -4 attack and now you have a two handed Scimitar that is Huge
add monkey grip to make it -6 Gargantuan Scimitar 15ft reach
could add Intuative Attack from the BOED and get a few monk lvls that way your AC goes up and you can use your Wis for Attack bonus. to help offset the Neg to attack
damage would be 3d6 on that i think

That is your Ichago

Doesn't grant reach. And don't plan on hitting with that -6. Might as well be a wizard at that point, given your to-hit.

Intuitive Attack only works with simple or natural weapons, and you replace your Str mod with your Wis mod - it's not additive.

when weopens incress in size so do thier reach or at least it says that in SS

the wis instead of str was thier for the RP aspect he said he didnt what a power attacker

i wasnt setting this up to realy play i was just pointing out how far one could realy go with size incresses on that note you could add enlarge person to the list and would be even bigger
