How much would D&D cost?

Seriously. I realize few to none will have an accurate clue, but those that might, even if it is ballpark -- what would it cost to buy D&D (the whole brand) from Hasbro?

Only Hasbro really knows.

Maybe we could all pull our money together and buy it. I've got $3 in my wallet.

The number I heard tossed around three years ago or so--and this is 3rd-hand information, so take it for what it's worth--was $30 million.

Whether it's gone up, down, or stayed the same since I heard that (assuming it was accurate to begin with) I couldn't begin to say.

I know. Everyone thinks I am asking a stupid question. But assume for a second I am *not* asking for no reason at all, that I *have* a reason to ask. Does that change your answer?

I'm still sticking with my number.

Your number is ridiculously high. Given the fact that most of the multimedia opportunities have already been licensed out, the brand is worth, if anything, less than it was a few years ago.

While I cannot guarantee my numbers are spot on, given the source, I have every reason to believe they're at least in the right ballpark.

Maybe we should try this as a factor of the cost of DnD product lines? If we multiply the cost of the line by roughly $1000 we should get an interesting number.

Personally I've shelled out a few hundred on books and minis (mostly books), and would own perhaps 2k more given the extra cash.
