If you're in melee range, why would you throw the trident instead of just thrusting with it?The problem with the net as an item is the low DC to escape (DC10), added to advantage to huge creatures, and low hp (5 hp). Add to the fact that the throw is always at disadvantage because its a ranged attack within 5 ft.
I am the DM!Funny, I thought the first step would be to talk with your DM about it. Ask what they think about it?
? Thrown weapons count as ranged weapons, or at least throwing such a weapon is a ranged weapon attack.Sharpshooter works with ranged weapons, which most thrown weapons are not. Nets, however, are, as are darts.
nets are ranged weapons, not melee with the thrown property. Making an attack with a ranged weapon in melee range gives you disadvantage. If you're in melee range, why would you throw the trident instead of just thrusting with it?
Got it! I thought you were referring to the trident for some reason.nets are ranged weapons, not melee with the thrown property.
This would be a super-simple fix for a homebrew net-and-trident user. They should have been a melee weapon with the thrown (10/20) and the special property.
