How Would You Explain the Internet to a Character in D&D?

It would be like the door of the local church, a place for anyone to post their pieces of writing and ideas, except that everyone in the world could post to it and read from it if they so desire.

Really, the church door was the internet messageboard of the middle ages and renaissance.

Legend
It's like the town noticeboard except you can use it anywhere there is a thinking box that is attached to other thinking boxes.

OR

It's like the spell Sending except lots of people can use it at once.

I don't know why, but I thought about an Illithiad Master Brain...
... only, it would be run by trolls. With opposing ideas and goals. And porn.
Scary place that...

It's a massive divination spell that anyone can access if they have the right implement. It lets you ask questions or tell things to everyone else who uses the divination spell as well, and you can even weave in visual and auditory illusions to what you say. The challenge when using it is picking out the wheat from the chaff, not listening to bardic music from the epic bard "Rickroll", and avoiding any images concerning an all-seeing goat.
