Today I gained a new favorite song, one that will not supersede my all time favorite, but one that will remain for a while- the song? Nickelback, If Everyone Cared.

I have a bit of a love affair with this kind of sentiment.

Its been a while sense I gave blood, or sense I have done anything other then be kind to people, this week I want to do something, just one thing to make a difference to someone, someone I don’t know, and I was hoping that you- ya, EN World, if you could all join me.

Be kind to one person a day for one week, whether its helping someone unload their groceries into their car, pumping someone’s gas for them, washing a windshield (not just your own), or something like that. Then one day during this coming week give a pint of blood at your local blood bank or something like that.

Give it a shot.

I shall endevor towards this; it's a nice enough idea :)

Agreeing with Gruff about the Nickleback sentiment though; Cradle of Filth FTW :]

cheers,

usually in Chicago, when someone washes your windshield for you, they expect to be paid for it. when you tell them to stop or that you're not going to pay them, sometimes they even get mad. ;)

BOZ- tell them to get a job!

I like the idea and try as I can.

I have wanted to give blood for a while now. After my cancer stuff settled I had planned it. I have now cleared the time period of which I was not allowed to give blood but due to the diabetisis have discovered new hurtles involved in giving.

As for the other- I do things like that all the time. The looks on people's faces are precious.
Last X-mas a lady had two carts and a baby leaving the store. I have one bag of gifts. Offered to help by pushing a cart. You could she her calculating and judging me on whether I would take the cart and run.

When we reached the car the look on her face was awesome. That is the reason I try to do things like that everyday.

It a nice sentiment, but I really, really hate Nickback.

If you took all the sucky bands from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and made some sort of super group out of them, and threw in Stephen King's band, too, they would still suck much less than Nickleback.

Still, in many cases, people don't want you to help them. Many feel you are patronizing them, or want something in return, or call secrurity on you. Personally, I think the best thing is to simply mind your own business. If someone requests help, then sure.

Even giving blood has it's downside - unless it's a hospital, they simply turn around and sell it to one. Some of the money might go to help people - but then again, your blood might be paying for fancy office for some executive.

Didn't they try to get a national week for something like this about a decade ago?

I seem to remember the slogan "Random acts of kinds and senseless acts of beauty."

I'm due to give blood again in a few week's time. I only started 2 years ago now and I'm coming up for my 6th donation (you can only donate once every 3 months in Australia). Unfortunately for me I have had quite a few colds lately which has slowed my donation rate somewhat.

As for Nickelback, I think that they are ok. Aren't they one of the best selling bands in America? I have heard quite a few comments about people not liking them though. Obviously there are one of those bands that people either love or love to hate.
