And can you imagine anyone actually saying that? (Except to annoy other players?)

"I use Use the Force to throw the gernade back at the stormtroopers."

or

"I Use the Force to throw the gernade back at the stormtroopers."

I know which version will be seen at my gaming table.

Hey guys. I was gone over the weekend. I went to my parents house and found out that their computer was in the shop....arrghhh no internet for 3 days!!!!! Anyhow I'm back and will begin answering questions.

Over all the book is nice. A lot of the art is redone from previous books, and for the most part they chose the good art. They also use photos from the series throughout the book. The use minis only for illustrating combat examples.

I really like how they appear to have attempted to streamline combat. For example it looks like certain actions which normally provoke Attacks of Opportunity no longer do (disarm and grapples).

I'm not sure how much faster it'll be to generate high level NPCs. There are a lot of feats and talents to choose from.

Anyhow I'll read thru the replies and answer what I can.

Better wording:

Make a Use the Force check. (DC: 255 -- the guy wanted to force-choke the Death Star. I told him that didn't make any sense at all, but he whined until I let him roll the dice)

I'm surprised with how many feats a character gets. They almost get a feat a level. There are about 6 level from one to 20 where they don't get a feat, even then they get a talent.
2 weapon fighting has changed quite a bit, there are 3 levels to the feat. The other levels don't add attacks, they instead decrease the penalities.

-As far as the alien books go...I don't forsee any massive problems, infact very little.

- Prcs requirements want you to be trained in certain levels, and have certain talents/feats

After reading the book I was left wondering if they couldn't have trimmed more from the classes. What I mean is besides the talent access nobles and scoundrels are almost identical.

-I was also hoping to see some skill mechanics change. For example doing an acrobatics check to tumble thru a threatened square is a DC 15. This causes situations where at higher levels where you can't fail the roll. Maybe this is part of the streamlining....

All in all a good book, I'll say 4-4.5/5. But I'll have to see it in play to really evaluate it.

It sounds needlessly pedantic to try and make a point.

Why can't a GM just say "Use the Force" or "Make a Force check"? Use the Force is evocative and fits the setting.

"I use Spot."
"I use Tumble."
"I use Search to search for traps."

Avoiding the phrase "I use the Force" seems to require a similarly deliberate attempt to sound awkward.

Mostly, people spot, tumble, search and use the Force.

I'm sure all Jedi have practiced blocking energy/blaster shots, it's one of the first things we see Luke practice afterall. They all should have some skill, but reflex defense is abstract enough to cover it. I would think the lighsaber combat talent tree is for those Jedi who are masters of the lightsaber. The other thing to consider is that fully trained Jedi are level 7+ as level 7 is when they get the build lightsaber ability. That gives them plenty of levels to pick up lightsaber talents if they want them.

To reflect a shot back, as the padawam does in RotS, requires two levels in the lightsaber combat tree, minimum of three Jedi levels. It seems like it is way too easy to get to level 7 without those talents.... and refresh my memory, can Jedi Knights and Masters pick up more lightsaber combat talents?
