I @#(*&$ing HATE Wachovia. BOYCOTT!!

Anyone here use Wachovia? I do, but not for long.

This has to be the most underhanded, dishonest, and sneaky bank I have ever heard of. For one thing, my family almost lost our house last year because someone called Wachovia with my parent's savings account number and requested to empty our account into an online checking account with another bank. They did not even ask for a name, personal information, pin number, password, ANYTHING, they just went along and gave tens of thousands of our hard earned dollars to some random stranger. After three months of arguing, tearing our hair out, and worrying that we may soon be living on the street, Wachovia FINALLY realized its error and returned our money, for a fee. Bastards.

So how dumb am I that I went and set up a free student checking account with these people? Now I go online and check my account balance, and find that there is a completely unnecessary, unreasonable, and STUPID "Unavailable funds" fee of $31. My account had less than a dollar in it, so that put me into the negatives, I deposit my paycheck, and find that thirty bucks is missing. So I send an e-mail asking what is going on.

They tell me that there was a $1.01 charge from MY debit card that I NEVER MADE OR AUTHORIZED, which is why there was a fee. Funny thing is, they never listed this among my transactions, even though the charge is supposedly over a week old. So ANY way you look at it, this is their fault. And now they're giving me a hard time about getting my hard earned $31 back. If I don't, I'm going to find some organization to report the bastards to, and cancel my account with them. If they DO give me my money back, I'm emptying my account, and then closing it. In either case, these thieves lose my business, and I start spreading the word about their underhanded, incompetent and dishonest business practices.

Starting now.

I will remember to boycott that bank (although it may not be useful for where I live). What you tell is incerdibly horrible. My opinion is that some of their employees are thieves, or acquainted with thieves, and also you could sue them for their practices (is this in the US?).

Wachovia's corporate office is just across the street from where I work. You want I should go over and bomb the place for ya?

I'd be inclined to take them to court over the fee they charged you to fix their mistake. Of course, my father-in-law is a lawyer, so it's a bit easier for me...

Hmmm...I've used Wachovia for the last couple of years and never had any trouble at all.
I have to agree, but it seems to be the minority. I have had some small issues, but I always call my local branch and talk to the same person there. I will say that I dislike thier 1-800 help, or thier main info lines. Going through a specific person generally helps in explinations and getting problems solved to YOUR advantage. So my advise is to go in and actually talk to someone locally.

If they are still being dumb about it then go to some of the other options, having a friend who works across the street take care or it or sue.

We had some mutual funds and investments through them. Then our advisor went to work for another company. So we wanted to transfer them to the new company to keep our advisor ie someone we know and trust. They said there would be a fee. Not happy but sounded reasonable untill we found that the fee 65% plus some weird tax I had never heard of. Fought with them tooth and nail for almost three months finally it took us getting the largest law firm in the midwest for us to get all our money transfered. I agree boycott!!!
