Anyone here use Wachovia? I do, but not for long.
This has to be the most underhanded, dishonest, and sneaky bank I have ever heard of. For one thing, my family almost lost our house last year because someone called Wachovia with my parent's savings account number and requested to empty our account into an online checking account with another bank. They did not even ask for a name, personal information, pin number, password, ANYTHING, they just went along and gave tens of thousands of our hard earned dollars to some random stranger. After three months of arguing, tearing our hair out, and worrying that we may soon be living on the street, Wachovia FINALLY realized its error and returned our money, for a fee. Bastards.
So how dumb am I that I went and set up a free student checking account with these people? Now I go online and check my account balance, and find that there is a completely unnecessary, unreasonable, and STUPID "Unavailable funds" fee of $31. My account had less than a dollar in it, so that put me into the negatives, I deposit my paycheck, and find that thirty bucks is missing. So I send an e-mail asking what is going on.
They tell me that there was a $1.01 charge from MY debit card that I NEVER MADE OR AUTHORIZED, which is why there was a fee. Funny thing is, they never listed this among my transactions, even though the charge is supposedly over a week old. So ANY way you look at it, this is their fault. And now they're giving me a hard time about getting my hard earned $31 back. If I don't, I'm going to find some organization to report the bastards to, and cancel my account with them. If they DO give me my money back, I'm emptying my account, and then closing it. In either case, these thieves lose my business, and I start spreading the word about their underhanded, incompetent and dishonest business practices.
Starting now.
