D&D 5E I little idea on 5e Core, pacing, and "dailies."

So... why would I pick up this game as a D&D edition when I've already got it in Mutants and Masterminds? I can play that with all swords and sorcery trappings already.

Same reason we picked up 2e, 3e, and 4e: it has D&D on the cover.

Seriously, though, if developers of going to adopt the attitude that there's no point in embracing an innovation or a design strategy (or technique or goal, or whatever we might call this) if someone else has done it first, they might as well just issue re-prints. Anything a game can do, some game has probably done better than D&D by now.
