D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

"Thank you Brother Chrysagon, I could not have done it without you!"

Rodrigo summoned the others forward, but hissed in dismay when he realized that the Nameless was missing. "I hope that Dellrack can swim! Hold the door open while I grab his things. Miss Imogen, if you could ward the front for a moment..."

Dellrack can see flashes of light reflecting through the pouring water from the Nameless' light coin, but the man himself is far down the tunnel of rushing water. The Dwarf could follow him that way, with great effort, or swim back over to the door.

OOC: Yes, I said "swim". It's all now over Dellrack's head. Checks involved in your actions. It's dangerous down here,
and even more dangerous up there.

Dellrak uses all his strength to wade through the falling deluge. Once on the other side (rounds taken unknown) he pushes off the stone and kicks as hard as he can towards the light.

OOC: STR check: fight through waterfall[roll0]
Athletics check: swim [roll1]
Action: Dash (if allowed while swimming)
swim speed 12'/round (24'/round w/dash)
can hold breath 30 rounds before CON saves needed
Let me know how many and what rolls I'll try and RP them into a post.

Miss Imogen has stood frozen, and has not helped. Her gaze still fixed on the trap door that didn't open. Rodrigo's words snap her alert, and she moves forward to help him as she should have done earlier.

"Aye," she affirms, over the roar of the rushing water.

Her bow is half-floating, held in place by one leg. She uses one hand to hold her place, bracing herself, and the other either to help her companions or -- should it be needed -- to face any opponents that come from the front.

After switching back once, the now-flooding stairwell leads to what is clearly disguised as a shed or locker. Shelves are covered with rope, buckets of tar, an other dock-work equipment. Also there is more than one hand-pump and hose. On the floor are a number of drain-grates. It appears it would be possible at low-tide to pump the Serpent's Throat clear of the sea water, and have a work-crew replace the rock in the ceiling.

Rodrigo, Imogen, and Chrysagon find their way into the shed and look back down as the stairwell fills completely with water. There is no sign of Dellrak or Harb, much to everyone's regret. The sound of conflict snaps them back to attention; peeking out of the unlocked door, they are at a secluded dock somewhere in the Tiryki Anchorage. On the dock, there appears to be some sort of conflict - people are dead and two boats are on fire.

But the more immediate problem is that two men with crossbows were watching the shed (apparently there was some sort of warning that the trap had been triggered) and the shout to a woman on the dock who appears to be leading the dock's defenders before moving toward the shed.

* * *

The Nameless man found his way through a short, water-filled tunnel and into the bay. Running out of breath, he kicked hard for the surface and arrived with a gasp. Treading water, he could see a long dock and a boat on fire. Men were running about with buckets, and firing quarrels at another burning boat further out in the bay.

A dark form loomed in the depths and suddenly Dellrak burst the surface next to him. It was night, so in an effort to not draw attention to them, Nameless palmed the glowing coin. By the dim light of his red glowing hand, they began to swim toward the dock, the conflict masking the sound of their splashing.

Begin Round One

OOC: The second burning boat is off the map to the north. Most of the 'defenders' are facing that way. At the moment, just the two thugs are moving on the shed.

GM: Are my notes correct that no-one is damaged yet?

OOC: Dellrak was wounded post #111 145 posts ago. HP 7/12

"We needn' to get ta shore," Dellrak says to the monk. "The others they do still be in the Coils."

OOC: Action: Swim (slow and silent, no Dash) to E16
If no bottom for the short dwarf he will hold onto that post at E17

"Go then, I will attempt to discernnwhat is happening here."

Harb spotting some crates on the nearby pier struck out in that direction hoping to get a sneak peek at the battle.

Squirrels are evil!

Dellrack & Nameless

Dellrack and Harb both quietly swim over to the pier. Dellrack swims to shallower water but finding it still over his head, he grabs on to a pylon. He steadies himself and finds that it should be a reasonably basic task to climb up onto the pier.

Harb swims into deeper water. He too finds himself a pylon that he can reasonably climb. From there he begins to understand what has transpired on the dock. It appears that the smugglers have received their shipment from the docked ship, and were attacked by men on the further away burning boat. Whether the raid was a success or was driven back is harder to discern, however - at any rate the attackers are now fleeing in the burning boat, and men on both sides are dead.
