D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

"right" answered Rodrigo in a low tone. He gently set down Delrak's equipment with a small sigh and drew his blades. "Miss Immogen, when you judge they are in rushing range, perhaps you may open with a shot, and then Brother Chrysagon and I will attack... agreed everyone?"

In spite of being armed with crossbows, the two smugglers take the bait and move closer to the shed.

"Is someone in there?" says one of them, "Show yourself!"

Chrysagon nods to Rodrigo.
"He asks for it. Show him if you please, Miss Imogen."

Chrysagon is crouching at the door, ready to rush out. As soon as the arrow flies, he kicks the door and protects the others with his shield to intercept any incoming arrows while we progress on the dock.

Miss Imogen's skirts are heavy with water, and are clinging to her legs. She hears the plan, nods, and steps out, firing an arrow towards the nearest of the approaching figures, before retreating to a position where she can cover her friends.

That was a slip, she rebukes herself. Allies. Temporary allies only. She'll need to be careful about making such commitments.

OOC: Move to I24
Attack H16: to hit [roll0] (sharpshooter). If a hit, damage = [roll1] piercing.
Move (continued) to K23 (behind cover, presumably).

(OOC: because the crossbowmen moved "closer", I'm not entirely sure where they are, I'll describe what Rodrigo is attempting to do, which is strike and then move under cover, and let the GM arrange the details (I have faith now!). I'm aware that this may provoke an AoO but they have ranged weapons out so I'm not sure if they get one or not, and even if they do it will be at disadvantage, so Rodrigo is willing to risk it. Rodrigo will try to end up behind the crates, or behind Brother Chrysagon if he can't do it. If he doesn't have enough movement and is left in the open well... that's what the Main Gauche is for, and it's good to stand shoulder to shoulder with your comrades in arms).

As Brother Chrysagon rushed out, following Miss Imogen's deadly shot; Rodrigo shadowed the larger man charge. As the armored templar stopped, shield held at the ready, Rodrigo stepped left and diagonally. The second smuggler briefly saw Rodrigo's pale face beneath a dark hat as Rodrigo trusted his rapier violently at him, and then lost sight of him as the swordsman stepped again and was gone.

Stab at smuggler crossbowman on the dock: 1D20+5 = [16]+5 = 21

Chrysagon, Imogen, & Rodrigo

Chrysagon swung open the shed door and marched forward, shield in front of him. The smugglers fired their crossbows - one quarrel burried itself into Chrysagon's shield and the other clipped off the shield's corner, breaking apart, the two pieces clattered to ground on the wooden pier.

Slipping out the door behind him, Imogen put an arrow right into the chest of one of the smugglers, who fell backward, throwing his crossbow aside and clutching at his chest until he lie still, staring up at the sky. The other dropped his crossbow and pulled an axe off his belt, but was barely able to bring it up before Chrysagon slammed into him with his shield.

The man took a step back as Rodrigo popped out from behind the shield and thrust a rapier into his shoulder. The man grunted in pain. Then Rodrigo was gone, slipping back behind a crate that was piled on the dock. Miss Imogen, likewise found cover behind a large lock-box chest, her back to the shed.

Further away on the dock, the other smugglers were still firing at the escaping boat, and this little skirmish seemed to have gone unnoticed so far. Sailors rushed about with buckets, putting the fire out on the docked two-mast ship.

Dellrak hears the sounds of fighting above him, and trys to make himself as small as possible. He needed to get out of the water and get back to the others. He cautiously swims under the pier keeping an eye up on the deck boards, as he makes his way towards the beach.

OOC:
Move: Swim - E19
Action: Dodge (although I must be able to see my attacker to get the benefit)
