D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

As Dellrak lay on the lower deck, he coughed blood, revealing that for the moment, he was still alive. Miss Imogen knew that Rodrigo could well be next, and she sent an arrow at the undead ape that was looming over the swordsman. It was hastily fired, but the creature ignored it entirely - it neither flinched nor ducked as it came at Rodrigo, and the arrow struck it in the eye-socket. To Imogen's astonishment, it fell back over the railing and into the mist, crashing through the branches of the trees.

The tabaxi growled and chirped at each other, and they came at the undead ape in the midsection, grabbing it from all sides as the creature dropped what was left of poor Brax. The creature flailed, scratching and biting at them as they tried to throw it over the edge. Its superior size and strength stopped them from managing to get it over, but they managed to hold it firm enough that they were safe from injury, while Falx took the opportunity to retreat to the capstan.

Captain Bravewing waved for her crew to reach the bow-section, and she fired another small crossbow quarrel which stuck into the flesh of the creature menacing Harb. Veliod came forward to give Ra-Nas a hand onto the bow-section, and the Navigator made it safely, but crew-woman Nhar was stuck on the branch as it bounced up and down under their scrambling weight.

OOC: @gargoyleking Harb, Qawasha, Weed, and @Ancalagon Rodrigo still to go...

Rodrigo dodged and weaved, trying to preserve himself during the onslaught

reaction: Parry parry to reduce damage: 1D8+4 = [7]+4 = 11

(OOC: As the worse attack that landed did 9 points of damage, this means that only 9 damage is absorbed - still leaves Rodrigo with 10 HP which is better than 1).

He gasped as he saw the foul beast get an arrow right in the head, and crumple. He knew he would not have survived more than a few more seconds... He then heard the dwarf's wet cough.

He rushed to his side and administered a healing potion to his companion.

Master Dellrack! We need your crossbow!

Harb winced as the creatures claws bit into his flesh. But he had no choice but to hold this one off until his allies could get clear to assist him. Calling Ukee in to hos defense, the monk used her as a distraction. As expected it started to lose focus on him for just long enough. He cracked his staff into the creatures leg, then returned to his defensive stance.

Quarterstaff: 2d20k1+5 19 1d8+3 6 Advantage thanks to Ukee's help action.

Rodrigo had parried the claws of his opponent, just before it had fallen to Imogen's arrow. Free from harm, he rushed to Dellrak's side, knelt down, and administered a healing potion. The dwarf sputtered and began to waken.

Directly across from them, the three Tabaxi finally overpowered their undead ape, with some quick-witted growls on the part of Myrral, and they tossed it over the side. It crashed through the branches and landed with a thump somewhere through the mist below.

Harb called Ukee to his side, and the winged monkey bravely flew into the face of the ape-thing, while Harb struck it with his staff. Qawasha lightly scorched it, but it was Weed who dealt the killing blow by sending two stones that struck it in the back of the head. Like the others before it, its large body fell through the trees.

From far below, Chrysagon (who had struggled to climb the ropes to join the fray) called, "Stop raining apes!"

He reached Kasqa's side and was relieved to find that the Chultan had survived the fall, though barely. He lay his hands on the worst of the man's wounds (cracked ribs) and healed him.

Dellrak coughed up a bit of blood, but he returned to consciousness, still looking badly broken. But at least he was alive and able to move.

“By Moradin’s beard,” he coughed, struggling to his feet. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his last three goodberries, popping them into his mouth. It wasn’t much healing, but better than nothing.

Down below, Kasqa coughed back to life, as well, and clutched his now healed ribs. “That was long way down…”

OOC: How much healing did Kasqa get?

OOC: Death Curse: You now must spend Hit Dice to regain HP in a Long Rest (as well as a Short one) and you only regain 1 HD at the end of a Long Rest. Additionally, Short Rests take 2 Hours. Everything else about resting follows the usual book-rules.

Harb was surprised when the beast fell so easily. Looking around he saw that all of them had been dispatched. Climbing back down the branch he'd been fighting on, he let himself relax slightly and then moved about, tending to those injured in this most recent attack, party ans crewmen alike.

1d6+4+#ofHD heals to everyone who's injured. Chrysagon can use his LoH to take care of any remaining damage after that.[/ooc]

OOC: @FitzTheRuke, how would Song of Rest work on short rest and HD spending? Same? Half?

Anyhow, 2 1st level cures and 2 2nd level cures + song of rest +1d6/HD spent
It seems we're staying the night here.

Maybe it is also a good place to leave PC NPCs? To help and protect and heal the crew or something...
