D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

Morning
Round 0

Dellrak winced as they lost another wizard. The dwarf shook his head. The Thayans weren’t holding their own. The wizards might have been useful with their magical knowledge. “Get his stuff, too,” he said with dwarven practicality. Not that he’d ever had much sympathy for Thayans, but that was a bad way to go.

"Do we take their meat too? It is fresher than the rationsss we have for long term..."
With his helm fully enclosed and sibilant speech echoing strangely from it it is hard to say if he's just teasing or is serious. Yassah seems to consider it seriously and awaits the groups reaction.

“We dunnae eat meat like tha’,” Dellrak snapped at the yuan-ti. “An’ it won’t stay fresh long. It’s poisoned, anyway,” he remarked.

Myrral looked up from his ritual, almost losing the place in his chant.
"Wha...NO!"
He finishes his chant and gets up.
"Mrrrweur! My people don't eat the meat of the people who's spirits are strong. Whoever can speak or think is never eaten. Regardless of our liking them or not. Mrrrr!"
Growling of the angry cat is heard for some time after while he checked the fallen for useful items.

"I didn't mean anything bad. We may or may not go hungry and eating partsss of onesss enemiesss isss not unheard of in humanoid culturesss."
Ussal tries to soothe the group.
"Let usss heal up and we can invessstigate."

With his magic sight, Myrral could see that Zagmira's bag glowed with the power of enchantment. Orvex was a scribe, and not a wizard, and held only some small rations, writing supplies, and a book containing some information on ancient Chultan writing (unfortunately translated to Thayan). Zagmira's bag was quickly determined to be a Bag of Holding - it's contents many and mysterious (now was not the time to go digging).

Counter-weights still dragged on chains somewhere deep inside the walls. Dellrak was sure that at some point, they would cause the collapsed floor to reset, and the second slab to raise. The group worked together, quickly and carefully, and managed to get everyone up into the tomb's first hallway: A moss-covered corridor that extended to a T-shaped intersection.

Tree roots hung from the sagging ceiling, and the air reeked of rot and damp. Ussal shone a light on the dimly-lit walls, revealing a series of small alcoves hidden behind vines. Ahead, a bas-relief carving of a bearded devil’s face adorned the wall at the junction. The devil’s gaping mouth was a well of utter darkness that resisted the illumination of Ussal's light.

OOC: If anyone wants to cast some healing spells, you might want to do it now. Feel free to give me notes on marching order and the like. Qawasha is still a baboon, I just haven't made him an icon yet.

Miss Imogen looks at the alcoves. Are they floor-to-ceiling? She is cautious at passing them, and wants to stay against a wall, but if they start waist-high, she'll duck underneath as she passes. She's willing to lead the way, using the end of he bow to nudge vines away.

She is cautious of her steps -- there's no need to rush.

She's read stories of booby-traps in dungeons. At Miss Enna's school, she'd play games with the other girls n which they'd explore places like this, imagined, in which the mouth ahead would release a gas or a tooxic slime and endanger all the players. She doesn't like thinking this way -- being constantly paranoid, and she can covern her actions in part, but she has no idea what to expect.

As she advances she asks aloud, "What do we think that mouth symbolizes? Is it a danger to us?

she wants to get past it, beyond the cone in front, and have the range of her bow. Led by the light of the coin in her hand, she advances.

I think we need to be extremely carful from now on, Chrysagon replies. We already triggered two traps and we have not even entered the dungeon!
Chrysagon carefully checks the floor for anything out of the ordinary. Is there a gap between the floor tiles? He does not want to end up in another pit. Advance with caution! he urges.

"Wait for a moment. We're all wounded. And while we could use some time off, I can close the worst wounds right now. Just sit tight."

Myrral sings, actually purrs, and plinks a soft melody on his xsilophone and the vibrant energy of the jungle spreads around him closing the wounds and refreshing the foliage around him.

But as his focus falters as he goes ever closer to the unlikeable Thayans and Yuan-ti, the aura fades.

OOC: fading aura is just fluff since I rolled low on the last few

Spread the healing so that most wounded in the party get healed up before going round-robin
In order (take what you need before getting to NPCs):
1. Myrral (11, full)
2. Miss Imogen
3. Dellrack
4. Crysagon
5. Ussal
6. Yassah
7. Thayans
8. Yuan-ti

Aura of Vitality: 2D6 = [6, 5] = 11
2D6 = [4, 2] = 6
2D6 = [5, 5] = 10
2D6 = [6, 6] = 12
2D6 = [4, 1] = 5
2D6 = [6, 4] = 10
2D6 = [3, 6] = 9
2D6 = [1, 2] = 3
2D6 = [3, 2] = 5
2D6 = [2, 1] = 3

As Miss Imogen moved forward cautiously, Chrysagon warned her of a strange floor-plate, mostly covered in moss. She avoided it, ducking under the wall-alcove. She peeked into the alcove, and it seemed likely that a blade, arrow, or dart might very well have come from inside its recess.

With his magic sight, Myrral could see the darkness in the mouth of the Bearded Devil's head was a magical darkness, impervious to normal light sources. He got the group to wait while he strummed up some healing magics. It wasn't enough to fully heal either of the broodguards or the Thayan orc, but that was fine by him.

OOC: Imogen, Dellrak and Chrysagon are lucky enough to be unhurt. Ussal will take most of it, bringing him to 44/51. Yassah is full, but the other NPCs still are pretty beat-up. Worst off is the second Broodguard at 13/45. We can move on anyway. Save that healing for PCs and beloved NPCs.
