Jariah noticed that Elsbeth had trouble identifying a few of the potions and some of the other items. She offered, “Let me try with the other potions.”

Liberally using a cantrip to increase her senses, she took a look at each of the other four potion vials, unstoppering each in turn to sniff and taste a drop. She handed the first one to Wireth and said, “You can check this one too, if you want. I had no luck.”

In the other room, Jakira nodded his feline head in agreement with the conversation between Sachiko and Suldrel. “Rrright! Gold forrr earrrs! We arrre rrrich! Laterrr we can go kill morrre of the gobberrrs.”

Even with more healing potions available besides the ones they came with, Jariah still did not feel so bold to continue hunting goblins without a return trip to Sandpoint. She tucked the 3 potions she had tasted into her pouch.

She moved through the doorway to get her own look at the map. She shook her head, “No, we should return to Sandpoint first. We are a little battered from dealing with this village.”

“We can be back there today yet and recover. Then with some trading and resupply we can be better armed and equipped to head out and deal with all of those places on the map if need be.”

Jakira’s tail twitched with excitement he nearly purred as he muttered softly, “Goooold… gooold.”

Wireth nods. I'm still sore, even with that potion I downed. I'm a fan of returning. Maybe we can even get Ameiko to pay for identifying the magic items."

He frowns, then, adding, "But I have to ask: Maybe it was just blood loss or the fog of war, but ... I feel like there were arrows flying in from someone who wasn't us. Am I just crazy?"

As if hearing the half-orc, Walthus comes walking into the goblin village and into where the party is. "I hope you don't mind the help. After you left looking for this village, I decided to head this direction after resting a bit. I had been watching your progress for a while. But when you ran into Gutwad and his champions, I figured it was time for me to play a more active roll in the conflict." Seeing a need he uses a healing scroll on Suldrel and another on Jakira.

"Oh, um..yes, we should head back to Sandpoint. Maybe we can sell or trade some of the things we found. Then we can buy some better equipment so we will be better prepared to fight more goblins or anything else we find." she suggested.

"Some of us were weakened earlier by the goblins so it would be best if we rested overnight."

Sorry for not posting much lately. Lots of things going on between work and home.

Sachiko stays where she is, playing with the pin and the fan. She looks up as Walthus enters and brightens momentarily. "Hi Walthus!"

That seems to make up her mind. She stands up, putting the trinkets in her pouch.

"I want to keep pressing forward. I don't want to go back yet. I mean, we can rest...but we have to see this through to the end! Don't you guys see? Something happened here! The goblins were all hiding in their houses! They had this...this stolen treasure! We can't just go back now! What are we going to tell people? 'Oh, there was some kind of magical mystery with treasure and danger and...and mysteriousness...but we decided to leave it behind because we got our goblin ears?' And don't tell me we can just come back here later, because once we're back in town we'll have all this money to spend, and things will come up, and people will want to talk to us, and before long we'll have twenty other things to do...and this will just slip away and we can't let it do that!"

And then she pulls the meanest trick of all, and gives Suldrel a full blast of her slightly-teary puppy-dog little-sister eyes.

"Please?"

Jariah looked at Suldrel after Sachiko made her shameless plea, “Does that act of hers actually work?”

She shrugged, “I do not see what is so important about learning the mystery of the looted treasure. That’s what goblins do, attack people like bandits.”

“However, I cannot argue against staying here in the village for a few minutes to be more thorough in checking things out. It is true there was something strange about the gate and everyone hiding. Once they found us, they did not hesitate to come out attacking us.”

“Does anyone speak the goblin tongue? We do have a prisoner to interrogate. Let us question him and finish looking around the village before we return to Sandpoint.”

She greeted the Halfling, “My thanks to you, Warden. Jakira feels better now. Do you happen to speak goblin?”

Jakira piped up with a little too much excitement in his tone, “Yes! I wanna interrrrogate the gobberrr. Let’s do that.”
